The screen of my Fitbit ICONIC went blank a few days after downloading the latest firmware (using iOS). Tired switching it off and on a few times but remained blank

Screen keeps on going blank on mine too, only way to cure it is to hold left button and bottom button and restart. really annoying as the whole point of wearing a watch is to tell the time. Can't fitbit just send the previous software out again so we can revert back to the version that worked properly? Its clear the current version has issues.

I find it very disappointing that fitbit has just left the Ionic watch. My husband spent the most on fitbits most expensive watch to have fitbit just not care about the thousands that payed good money for an Ionic watch. What is to say they will not just repeat this failure on a new watch again. My trust in fitbit is gone.

I absolutely refuse to do anymore updates after my last Fitbit died right after one was done.  Luckily it was still under warranty and was replaced.

Hi it does appear to have stabilised now thanks, 😊 still not 100% back to normal though. Have also noted that my step count has dropped significantly since the update, yet my routine hasn't changed that much. Also I haven't gained a sleep score since august 5th, only had one or 2 sleep scores a week since april yet back in march and february it was rare to not get one, i blamed the april to august lack of data due to me being off work on furlough and possibly not sleeping as good, but i returned to work on august 5th and haven't had a score since 🤔 dunno if its the updates or my fitbit gradually dying. i got a free huawei smart watch with my phone had it since june but i dont want to part with my fitbit 😢 might end up having to if it wont behave itself any more please squish the bugs! 🐛🐞 thanks

@DanCardwell Thank you for getting back! I appreciate the details mentioned, I'm glad to hear that your Ionic is back to normal.

I would like you to double check this article regarding the step count that you've been getting.

In regards to your sleep score, you should receive one if you're getting sleep stages, you may want to this article to learn more about some of the scenarios that might prevent you from receiving sleep stages.

I've retired my fitbit, I had to reset it 3 times yesterday. There is no point in wearing a watch if I have to reset it if I want to know what the time is.

The marketing email from fitbit telling me to upgrade my ionic to a fitbit sense sealed the deal. It seems very coincidental that lots of people are reporting issues caused by an update issued days before a new model came out, and its impossible to undo the update. A watch as expensive as Ionic should last a lot longer than it has.

I think you will find it is coincidental. The previous couple of firmware updates were about as problematic. Have a look back through the last year or so of threads.

Any smart watch company that brings out a robust, quality device designed for many years life and updates, with a user replaceable rechargeable battery at a reasonable price would instantly become the market leader IMO.

😊

But, sure, I completely agree, these quite expensive devices (VERY expensive for some) should last several years before problems and the non-replaceable battery dies.
