Ionic's firmware isn't updating

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The firmware update is appearing to be held up due to lack of bluetooth connectivity.  Not working over wi-fi.

Using IOS - Apple phone only got my fitbit today.  Not able to use it until it has updated completely.  Unsure if there is some kind of issue with the watch?  Is this an issue for all Apple users

Got a new Ionic, spent a whole evening infrustration with only the welcome screen, f/w update required and would not work whatever I tried; you can read everyone's stories here.  Most frustrating, it was syncing data with the app, so bluetooth working, but it could not find the device, would not connect to wifi   etc. etc etc   I drove my wife made with the frustration of only having a welcome screen .......which drove me mad: rather spoiling the birthday present that it was.  Anyhow on a RedMi5 Android......... the f/w is not updating, according the the bar on the scree 25% done.  What I did was, not sure it is all relevant; factory reset the Ionic, changed my Fitbit account password online, opened the app on the phone which now required me to log in, as my password had change; and started the f/w update, and f**k me it started now 30% done....looking at it, via bluetooth it is going to take 3 hrs, but at least I can see progress/change on the Ionic screen. So now I only have all the bugs to look forward to ! 🙂

Reserving judgement on that: f/w update has now down loaded, the reboot progress is displayed on the Ionic, but no longer in the app on the phone..............just being able to see the time on it will be a bonus !!!!!  Nearly complete......fingers crossed, but one should expect better for $300 !!

Glad my company does not release f/w without thorough testing......otherwise all your cloud storage would be screwed worldwide !

The first major update takes hours and is frustrating....it is as if the Ionic is trying to find itself.  After that one, the occasional update is easy.  Just have your phone updated, over 60 percent charge and plugged in, and the same for the ionic, and keep them a foot or two from each other.  That has worked with my iPhone.

Thi Ionic takes a little patience and getting used to.  My Ionic software is stable...don’t know why yours isn’t.

I'm having the same issue with android. Seem to just grind away on bluetooth.

I think you can power down and start the update again. That might resolve the issue.

I’m also having zero success since the update was pushed. My ionic will not connect via WiFi or Bluetooth. Tried resetting everything and the app doesn’t find my device. Double checked with my HR Charge and that device is fine. Need help ASAP as my ionic is essentially useless right now.

I had to do a factory reset then do update which I did overnight cuz it took literally all night on charger by Bluetooth.... I did factory reset by holding all three buttons down until it reset ... then I had to go into app settings disconnect old ionic set up New Ionic and then only then would it update but like I say it sat on charger all night updating.... if it helps at all mine still recorded my exercise while it was useless. Somehow....

I'm having this same problem.  I have android. It's took a supper long time (1day and 1/2) but I actually completed it twice and it still tells me to update.

My update worked fine but 27.331.30 cut some features.  I get text and phone calls but I have to look for them.  What happen to the live notifications, being able to send calls to voice mail?

I figured it out,  Hold the left button until the menu shows and turn on the notifications back on.
