Hi,
The reading was way off, I put another one on and it was different. I was on a 2hr heart machine from the hospital because I have a low heart beat and when I was wearing it, it was reading 110. When I was lying in bed it was reading 91, my heart math machine was reading 67 lol
Its way out, all up and down.

Justine,
Try this. Go into the app and force stop. Then clear memory and cache, reset the watch (left and bottom right button. Open app and re-sync the watch.

Great to hear.
I also had very low HR, resting 40 bpm, and could not raise my HR like I used to. Using the Ionic and comparing it over time helped my docs realize I had Sick Sinus Syndrome, and needed a pacemaker.

I have the same issue. When on the treadmill I check my Ionic (115) and then the heart rate on the t/mill (73) when on weights my rate jumps to the 160's to 180's. Not possible my max heart rate should be about 145 (220-75). I called and they walked me through a total reset. Didn't fix the issue. I just ignore it seems like Fitbit can't or won't fix the issue.

I have now tested 5 different Ionics; my original that worked until last June, two I bought on Amazon, and two I got from Fitbit. Each one was inaccurate. All different lot numbers. Initially resetting as I described worked, but then did not. Factory reset did not work. Wearing it higher up from the wrist, on the inside of my arm, and on my opposite wrist. Same behavior. The most recent update did not fix the issue.
I have noticed different watch faces can affect the HR shown, and one (ARC) showed a normal HR, but it interfered with button function. Some people must have their Ionics working correctly, and I wonder what the difference between theirs could be.
Fitbit has no interest in finding the problem. After all, the Versa 2 is out, and highly rated.
Monitoring my HR is important to me as I have a pacemaker and am trying to recover. I love the Ionic except for this issue, so I must move on to another watch.
