Ionic says "all caught up" even when I have unread messages

As I am typing this I am wearing my fitbit ionic. I have just received a text on my phone which I haven't opened yet. I swipe down on my ionic and it says 

"Nothing new here. You're all caught up"

And yet i have an unread text on my phone, so yes there is something new and no i am not caught up!!!

I have notifications enabled on the fitbit app.

Please help? This has been going on for months!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared in your post. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which mobile device are you using with your Ionic? When was the first time you experienced this issue? To fix this, I suggest you to restart your Ionic and then re-setup the notifications feature of your device following the steps that are specified on: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device? and let me know if the issue persists.
