Like so many people here, my ionic died after a firmware update. It's only 18 months old…
So the app suggested the update, I accepted. Then it had some trouble connecting to the bluetooth, the watch wouldn't count steps or measure HR, then the battery got low and wouldn't charge. Customer support gave me the tips I had already read: factory reset (impossible if battery is 0%), clean charging cable and port, change USB port/electrical socket, etc. Nothing worked of course. Now the warranty is expired and they gave me a 35% discount on a new product. Hum, no, thanks. I'm not gonna waste 350CAD on some piece of junk that will die in less than two years because of a f***** firmware update.

I'm also sorry to hear that your Fitbit device is no longer under the warranty period. The warranty period is good for 365 days, starting from the date of the first setup.
