Ionic screen black: dead after 14 months

This unfortunately seems to be a trend the more I am reading.  I charged my Ionic yesterday morning (it wasn't dead when I put it on the charger) and after it got up to 97% wore it the rest of the day without issue. I went to check the time around 6PM, noticed the screen was black and my watch would not turn on. The green sensor was off on the back and it hadn't synced to my app since 4:48pm.

Troubleshooted myself- pressed the 2 buttons, pressed all 3 buttons 20-30+ seconds both on the charger and off the charger. Plugged the charger into multiple outlets.

I contacted support this morning via live chat. They had me clean the watch and charger with alcohol and a toothbrush. When that didn't work they offered me a 40% discount for a new device.

How ridiculous is this?!?! This watch was a mothers day gift May of 2018. It is 14 months old. Clearly this is happening to a ton of Ionics, it is a Fitbit issue and instead of standing by their customers and making it RIGHT, they provide a discount for another product?!

Why on earth would I want another Fitbit, ANY of them, knowing that if there is an issue with an entire product line the company does NOTHING to make it right and wants me to just purchase another $300 watch every 14 months is ridiculous.

You created a watch to be in competion with Apple and Garmin and it seems really shady that everyone's Ionic is "going dead" right after the one year warranty and you want us to just "buy another".
