Ionic screen goes black and doesn't hold a charge

Got a new Ionic as a gift about 6 weeks ago. Routinely, the screen will go black even while it still has battery life left. This happens two to three times a week. I have to perform a restart to get the display to appear again. It also is not holding a charge very long. I will leave it charged overnight and it dies sometimes as soon as I start running with it. I am not using any of the apps or extra functions on it, just wearing it to track steps when walking and running. Is this normal? Makes it hard to use with any consistency.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @RyanPL.

Thanks for the details shared in your post and for already trying to resolve the issue. I understand how you are feeling and recommend trying the following:

  1. Switch to a Fitbit clock face: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?
  2. Confirm the steps to restart the device: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  3. Check our tips to maximize your Fitbit device's battery life in Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

Additionally, I recommend checking if your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version as updates come with new features and bug fixes: How do I update the Fitbit app?

Hope this helps.
