Hello,
My Ionic seems to be more sensible now on deciding when to turn the screen on which is ultimately affecting the battery life as it keeps turning on with very subtle movements of my hand.
Is there any option to avoid the screen turning on by itself? It would be great to like have it to turn on only if I double tap the screen or press a button for example.

Your Ionic is not up to date so try this: On the App, click on the Account Icon (upper right computer, upper left phone) and then Ionic and turn the "Quick View" setting off and sync your tracker.
I don't have my Ionic anymore but I believe that you can try a long push of left button which will give you the Screen Wake option.

Yes. Swipe left to Settings and scroll down and set "Screen Wake" to Manual.

I don't seem to have that option on my settings.
I got the following on the settings option:
Brigthness (Dim, normal, max and auto). currently set up at Dim
Display awake (10, 15, 20, 45 or 60 seconds). currently set up at 10 seconds
Vibration (normal, strong) currently at strong
Heart rate (on or off) currently on
Notifications (they're all on)
Bluetooth

Awesome, the long push on the left button did the trick. Thanks for your help!
I'll try to run any necessary updates through my computer when I get home tonight
