Ionic screen went black, won't come on

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After charging my Ionic last night, it seems to have turned itself off.  It last synced today at 2:49 PM Eastern Time with a "full battery."

I have read through several of the topics/questions/responses on this forum, and it appears that this has become a common problem.

I have tried merely turning the watch back on with the back button.

I've tried charging and then turning it back on.

I've tried holding the back button along with the bottom right button.

I've tried holding all 3 buttons in order to do a factory reset.

I've cleaned the charging connectors.

I've tried restarting (2 button) and resetting (3 button) while plugged in.

Nothing has worked.  I've not seen a logo at all. The thing just died.  It was a mother's day gift last year so it's only about 13 months old.  I just bought my husband a Versa after his Charge 2 started having major errors after less than 2 years.  I'm now wondering if I made a big mistake in buying an additional FitBit product, as I see hundreds of these same errors in less then 18 month old watches with only an "I'm sorry, you're out of warranty" response.

When I went to charge my Ionic, it momentarily said something like there wasn't enough power. Then it started charging, then went black. This was about 30 minutes ago. I have tried every restart method ... 2 button,  3 button & back button.  The green light on the back originally wasn't coming on, but now I have seen it flash on for a few seconds.  Momentarily thrilled,  I tried to start it again with no luck. Help! I just started a running camp & now my Fitbit is dead.

HI Made,
I am sad to report that the same things happened to me yesterday and after hours messaging support and phon e calls I was told there was nothing they could and since I am out of warranty the best they could do was offer me 40% off a new device. This is the second Ionic that has up and stopped working on me. I am. considering and apple iWatch. 😞 I loved my Ionic but I am not sure it is worth all the hassle of defective devices!

Thank you FitBit for making things right and replacing my Ionic! I appreciate the way you made sure to take care of a longtime customer.

Ditto! I didn't get any email from Fitbit, but I found the customer service
# on line. I had to jump through the hoops of "no, pressing these buttons
doesn't work", but that was a small price to pay. I had to speak with a
supervisor to get more than 40% off of list price, but they were helpful
and polite. My new Fitbit should be here soon.

I have now had two Ionics stop.  My wifes stopped after 14 months.  They gave me a 40% discount on a new one.  Now mine stopped last night.  Nearly $1000.00 spent on a useless product.  You can actually get a new Ionic at 40% off at retailers now.  They know this thing was / is defective.  We have bought every Fitbit model since they came out.  All have worked great except for the most expensive one.  Looks like Fitbit has lost our business and recommendations.

Hi john
At this point Fitbit has agreed to replace the item but I suspect it is
only a matter of time before this one stops working as well. I believe it’s
a defect in charging but it was free I decided to keep it for while before
making the switch to iwatch. Hope whatever you switch to works out better

Def a charging issue!

I purchased my Ionic on June 6, 2019.  I have had the same problems and tried to fix it all the ways that you have. With a full charge, my Ionic would last from 20 minutes to 1.5 days. Most of the time it is only about 20 minutes.  I called the help phone number and was told that the problem was that I had used a non-Fitbit face.  I was told to reset it to factory settings to fix the problem.  The Ionic is still malfunctioning.  I hope they send an update to fix these or have a recall for a bad part. I liked my Fitbit One years ago.  I wish that htey would fix them soon.

Hi marvin2412
If you are within the warranty period they will replace at no cost to you.
I would not wait and I’d ask for a replacement. In my experience they want
to do a lot of trouble shooting and ask for videos of the problem but if
you are insistent enough they will send a new one. I’d reference all the
posts in this thread.
Hope it all works out. I wish they own up to the defect, fix it and make it
right with all the ionic users. Outside of this issue I really like . This
time around I won’t be using any other clock faces. Good luck!

I recently found what looks like a wireless charging station in amazon for
the ionic but I’m not sure if required the same kind of connection to the
ports as my ionic won’t charge in any QI charger. May be worth checking
out!

This has happened to my ionic. Just turned black and won’t turn on and the green lights don’t flash anymore. It’s now just a paper weight.

 I’m so disappointed.

Thanking Fitbit customer care for helping me out and sending me a replacement rather quickly.

Only issue is when I turn my hand it does not light up showing the clock screen.

I have had the same problem for the past three days with no help from fit .

Putting on the charger was the only way I could get it to turn on.
