Ionic screen went blank, wont turn on

Recently, my ionic screen stopped responding to touch and started flashing weird colors across the screen. After this, the screen went black and has been completely unresponsive since. I have spoken to customer support and tried to restart it several times with no luck. It sounds like it is broken and the only option I have been given is a discounted product since I have had it for a little over a year. I'm very disappointed because it was working perfectly until this happened, and I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Accepted Solutions
Hold the single button on the left and the top right button at the same time to hard start. I held it until the logo appeared on the screen.
Then I was told to hold all three buttons until the logo disappeared and then as soon as the screen goes black, let the bottom right button go. Continue holding the other 2 until it vibrates. That does a factory reset. Mine didn’t ever vibrate. They created a ticket after all of that.
Hope it works for you.

I doubt this would help, but might be worth a shot. Try switching to a different basic Fitbit clock face, just hoping it's a problem with your clock face and not the whole tracker display.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I had the same experience yesterday.  My Ionic screen went blank and wont come on again.  Tried to restart severally without success.  Does the Ionic have a lifespan?  Is it a battery issue?  I need solutions/suggestions as well please.  Thank you.

Unfortunately it won't even let me change the clock face because my fitbit can't connect. Thanks for the suggestion though

I don't think it is the battery with the way mine malfunctioned and then turned off, especially since it had plenty of battery when this happened. I'm not sure what the battery life is supposed to be, but I would assume more than a year...

same here, just happened yesterday, all was fine, about 25% battery, buzzed on my wrist and died...seems to be happening to a number of people looking at the forums?  Death clock in the software? haha

Same thing happened to me. Put my fitbit on the charger last night at 13% battery. Went to get it off a couple hours later and it was dead. I can't reset or anything. It last synced about a half hour before I pulled it off the charger. Mine is slightly over a year old.

Mine is slightly over a year old too, which is extra frustrating because they wont replace it since it is out of warranty. They offered a discount on a new one, which is nice, but not super helpful since I don't have a lot of confidence in the company or product at the moment. It seems like a lot of people are having this problem, so I'm not really willing to spend a bunch of money on a new one knowing full well it will likely have the same problem.

Mine did the same thing about 30 minutes ago. Still had 50% battery. Won’t turn on and won’t charge. I’ve contacted support but haven’t received a response yet.

definitely seems like it is a problem a lot of people are having.

Same thing, it stopped completely...blank! Customer service recommended a replacement with 40% discount...buy a new/replacement for $149.97.

Very disappointed!

hopefully they are able to help you more than they were able to help me! If it is less than a year old they might be able to replace it for you.

I finally got it to turn back on, but it won’t sync. Support had me try several steps but they’re opening a ticket for me now.
Fingers crossed.

Mine is completely out, followed your procedure (hold on to the buttons even longer) but it didn't respond. Thanks, I already ordered a new one for $161.67. I've been used to it so I'll give it another try.

Well, it only worked to turn mine back on. Nothing beyond that. It was worth a try... I ordered my replacement this morning. I’d be happier about that if it was an upgrade, but I do love the Ionic.
With my luck, they’ll roll out an upgrade shortly thereafter. 😉

Mine did the same thing about 30 minutes ago. Still had 52% battery. Won’t turn on and won’t charge. I’ve contacted support and since my unit outside the warranty all they offer is a discount.  My 4th fitbit I upgraded to the ionic from the Surge (I had two with band issues). Loved this because you can replace the band, but only 17 months for almost $300, plus a less than sympathetic rep who just wanted off the phone.  This seems to be a big issue on the ionic.  My father's died two weeks ago at 14 months.

Mine just died. I've only had it 17 months
