I've had mine on it for about 8 months, about a month ago I notice that the heart rate was not accurate when I compared it to other heart monitors that I use when I training. It wasn't just off a little which is normal, it's off 35-50 beats per minute which gives me completely inaccurate data from my fit bit. When I spoke to fit bits Tech line they said it was a software issue and had no idea when it would be resolved.
Additionally my wife bought an Ionic month or so before me and she warned me that i might want too consider going in another direction, because she'd been having problems with hers syncing, finally becoming so frustrated that she just sent it back and doesn't wear a fit bit anymore.
This is the 2nd fit bit that I've owned and I was very satisfied with the service on the last one when I had issues, really seems to have gone downhill. Pretty bummed that I made a $250 investment and it looks like Im going to have to go buy something else now.

Welcome to the Community @Joker1. Thank you for the details that you've mentioned. Your feedback and comments are really appreciated and we're always working to improve our devices and customer service.
Regarding the heart rate data that you're seeing, each tracker uses a different algorithm and not all of them might show you the same information. If what you were experiencing was a bug, our team is always looking for solutions to these issues and informing users about any update.
Hope you can give us another opportunity in the future.

I have started having the same problem with my Surge - today it was showing a heart rate of 170 beats per minute when my self timing showed it to be 120 beats per minute (I was doing low intensity exercise). My fitbit Ionic is still under warranty (bought when my Surge crapped out for like the 3rd time) - is this something that can be fixed? it has happened a couple of other times recently. I am assuming it has something to do with teh heart rate hardware. i have been very careful with how treat and clean it.

My Ionic has been giving me the wrong heart rate now, for WEEKS. At this point if I do any stationary jogging, dancing or kickboxing the calories burned is so far from reality it's not useful at all.
Really hope this is a software issue because this is the second Ionic tracker I've had malfunction (my previous one bricked itself on the last OS update). Getting very frustrated.

Great to see you around @Kata404 and @kevhar. Thank you for the details you've mentioned and for letting me know that you've been very careful with your Ionic.
Is this something that can be fixed? I would like you to check the information below and try some troubleshooting.
Heart rate reading varies depending on several factors like movement, temperature, humidity, stress level, physical body position, caffeine intake, and medication. If you haven't already done so, please review our information and tips for heart rate accuracy here.
Though we've found that PurePulse provides better overall heart rate tracking than cardio machines or chest straps since it tracks your heart rate day and night, wrist placement during certain vigorous exercise is important. Review the information on optimal wear closely and make sure you follow the recommendations.
Hope this helps. Let me know the outcome.
