during rest the heart rate reading is as accurate as can be and always what I expect or to be and comparable with previous devise readings. I bought the Ionic specifically as reviews indicates HR readings being accurate.
when running heart rate jumps to over 175-185 which would kill me at my age.
I tried switching off GPS but still no joy. Tried stopping to allow heart rate to drop which actually does drop when stopping for a minute or so but when restating run heart rate jumps again to higher inaccurate levels. It’s not fun stopping and trying things during run. Can anyone help please ?thanks.

@SunsetRunner A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.
I appreciate the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried prior to posting. As with all heart-rate tracking technology, accuracy is affected by personal physiology, device location on your arm, and type of movement.
For a more accurate heart-rate reading:
Also you may want to check this article about what factors can affect your heart-rate reading on your Fitbit device?
Let me know how the troubleshooting goes. I'll be around if you have any additional questions!

Hi, It's me on this subject now.
Lower heat rate than expected during exercise
I too have noticed that the heart rate displayed does not seem to be high enough when I am doing basic exercises such as situps. This is something I have just noticed in recent weeks. I am relying on the display from clock face because as you know from another post, my exercise app does not launch. It was what I used during exercise to display heart rate.
Now with clockfaces, find I have a higher heart rate during a moderate-paced walk than full-on exercise.
What troubleshooting should I be following?
Happy to load this into a new post topic, if you like.

@QuirkyDude Hi there. Thank you for reporting this.
I would like you to confirm that you've followed the troubleshooting posted above and that you have installed a Fitbit clock face, this to ensure that the correct data is properly displayed. Also, please double check the information showing after the troubleshooting posted here.
Let me know how it goes.
