My tracker seems to only show basic information and not showing stages of sleep or oxygen stats for a couple of weeks

@Workinglife Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for getting in touch about this.

There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Hi @SilviaFitbit, I'm having the same issue as described by WorkingLife, I'm only seeing the basic stages in the app after a nights sleep. I've made sure to cover all the steps you described for over 4 nights now but no change in the data being showed. What to try next?

The results of Fitbit’s study, which were scored independently by polysomnography technologists, demonstrate that these devices can be used to track sleep stages with a reasonable degree of accuracy in normal adult sleepers, according to Fitbit.

Hi @SilviaFitbit, indeed my query was eventually prioritised and raised to higher tier support.

Unfortunately, the response from the higher tier support agent was underwhelming and not very helpful. I was advised to review the troubleshooting steps in this help guide: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2163/#ClassicSleep , something I had already done multiple times together with Fitbit support via live chat.

So when I get a reading of 188 bpm when lying in bed is a normal reading?
