I had an ionic for two years. I never got it wet, never used it in the shower or during swimming.
I wore this watch into the pool a few weeks ago and was never really under water with it, just on the surface. The ionic buzzed and died and would never come back on.
How are people actually swimming with this thing in the ocean and showering? Was it just bad luck and out of life at this point? I had an extended warranty but they said water damage isn't covered...
I'm so disappointed! I recently bought the Inspire just to compete in the challenges and hope that it doesn't die a watery death even when kept dry for the majority of the time...does anyone else have an experience like this? UGGGGGGG!!!!!

It's great to see you in the Community @Vincywife. Thanks for the details mentioned. Sorry to hear about what happened to your Ionic.
I'm not sure if you contacted our Support team but what they do is that they review each case is reviewed individually and the option that's provided is based in the Fitbit Warranty.
Regarding your Inspire tracker, I would like you to confirm that you're following the Wear & Care tips. Also, remember that we're always here to assist you.
I'll be around if you need further assistance.

You may want to check the back of you Ionic. I noticed this last weekend that one of my crystals covering the HR sensors had fallen out. Mind you, I am very careful with this watch and don't abuse it, and I have never gone swimming with it or taken a shower with it. But I wonder if that happened to your watch.
What further stinks on mine is that a couple days later, the watch just died. 18 months old and it gave up the ghost. Yep, I'm out of warranty. I'm not very happy with Fitbit right now. And all I was offered was 25% off any Fitbit device or 40% off a new Ionic. Of course, these were off the full MSRP prices. I'm not a big fan of Fitbit right now...

If you are still within your year of usage have a chat with Fitbit or give them a call. Mine was almost 2 years old, and I had purchased an extended warranty with Squaretrade but they said they wouldn't fix it because it has water damage. I didn't even bother to contact fitbit since it was out of warranty....The ionic was ok, but it had its set of issues...for instance, its supposed to be waterproof, turns out its not. And I was never ever able to sync music to the device, which is the main reason I purchased it. Instead of buying another one, I went with a Garmin, Vivoactive Music 3. I also got the Inspire to stay in the fitbit ecosystem. I'll never spend over 100 for any of their devices again...

This has just happened to me. I'm devastated. I used my Ionic daily for all my fitness tracking. I never had an issue with swimming with it in the past (my ionic is just over 2 years old, purchased for me as a birthday present). After reading all of the feedback on this forum, I'm now considering looking another product with greater longevity as I can't afford to fork out close to $500AU for a new watch that will die on me in another 2 years. Did you end up getting a Garmin @Gilmartinez1515? Interested in knowing what your thoughts are on the change if you did.
