Ionic stuck on 0% and won't charge

My ionic was working great and then the battery died the other day. I plugged it in to charge and came back a few hours later and it still says 0% when you press a button. It has now been on charge for 3 days and still says 0%. I have tried wall chargers and running it off the laptop USB but still nothing! I can't reset or do anything as there is no battery life! Help!

I had a similar problem. I called customer support. They got my information and even though the watch I had was out of warranty, they did not think about it and replaced it with a new one. I am a very happy customer. Thank you Fitbit.

Awesome news @Bobbe1982 and @Mogadishu207! I'm glad to hear that you were offered a replacement after getting in touch with our support team. Man Wink

Keep in mind that you can set up your replacement to your currently Fitbit account without losing any previous data by following these steps:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose your device and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

In case you have some spare time, I would like to invite you to visit our Discussions board where you will find great tips and encouragement from other members and if there's anything else I can do for you, please keep me posted!

How can you do this if you have 0% on the watch?

I have tried getting different cables and it will not charge.  Not sure what to do.

Charging Circuit in Ionic is a culprit. I lost two watches due to this
problem, on average 3mo per each.

Sweat, swimming pool water, ocean swimming or other
PH wrongly balanced electrolytic short circuit path to the exposed charging
pins creates damage in my opinion that takes out their charging circuit.
The watch is rated as water resistant, and this my by so, for some
circumstances, but for some other it is a shocker of the charging circuit
in my humble opinion that is proven by amount of posts related to this
issue.

I don't think Fitbit found the "solution to pollution" yet, however, they
realized the problem -I like this about Fitbit, as well as the fact watch
is a great product when it works. I think you need to open the case with
the Fitbit support line, they will ask you for several actions to confirm
the charging circuit failure, and most likely you will receive a
replacement watch. Once you do, my recommendation is, try to avoid
swimming with it, and clean it per factory recommendations. I watched in
the past the anatomy of ESD damage on a very micro level to some sensitive
components used in F-16 electronics design. It is not visible and obvious
process but it takes place. Until technology moves forward, and wireless
charging takes over, this three contact pins exposed to some form of
liquid with various PH concentration will create damage in a long run. It
is all one monolithic chip inside, there is no repair to it other than
replacement - too bad.

Turning mobile phone and home wifi off then with the ionic connected to the charger doing the soft reset by holding the bottom left and right  buttons on the watch worked for me cheers

I'm having the exact same issue. I've tried connecting to different chargers. Tried wall plug vs computer plug and no luck.  I've also tried seeing if I could reset but nothing could connect since it's stuck shut off at "0".

Should I just contact customer support? This thing seems broken...

Hi,

Make sure you have the watch connected to the charger but be away from any wifi or Bluetooth connection your watch usually uses ie your mobile phone. Then reset the watch by pressing and holding the left and right bottom buttons on your watch. Your watch should reset and begin charging again.

Push all three buttons at the same time whilst charging. Mine then came up
with the Fitbit logo.
Hope this works!

@Maldives20-14 I hope you're doing well! Thank you very much for sharing the workaround that helped you out to get back on track. I'm sure this will help other users who might be experiencing the same.

I will leave the help article in which those restart steps are shown step by step so other users will have access to it as well.

The only difference is that you did it while it was plugged in to the charging cable, which users can also try in order to sort this out.

Thanks again for your contribution on this thread. See you around! Smiley Happy

I have tried it multiple times, still no luck and still have a fitbit that is essentially an expensive paperweight :/, pretty frustrating.

The best option is to contact Suport Service. Good part about this, they
may still recognize and acknowledge the problem, and you may get a
replacement.

I submitted this reply to another thread. My Ionic was dead. Wouldn't take a charge and totally black screen. I went  to my Fit App and removed the device. Seems like the App was putting the device is some sort of "deadly embrace". I know, kind of weird. But it has now fully charged and the only problem I have is that it is not being recognized by my iPhone as a viable Bluetooth device. Still working on that problem.
