Ionic stuck on 0% and won't charge

My ionic was working great and then the battery died the other day. I plugged it in to charge and came back a few hours later and it still says 0% when you press a button. It has now been on charge for 3 days and still says 0%. I have tried wall chargers and running it off the laptop USB but still nothing! I can't reset or do anything as there is no battery life! Help!

My solution was simple. Tossed and bought a Garmin

Fitbit should not be selling products that have known defects and then wash
their hands clean when the device no longer works when just out of
warranty. We've spent the money and now have to re-invest into alternative
devices. Not every one has money to throw away like this.

Fitbit knows about this problem but doesn't care.  Once you're out of warranty you may as well throw it away.  I've tried every suggestion (new charging cable, charging stand, cleaning contacts, resetting...) and nothing worked.  Do yourself a favor and get a Garmin.

I had the same problem. On the back of the Ionic there is an oval groove
around the contact points. Clean the groove out real good with toothpick or
whatever, the charging wire male part must sit into this groove. Charging
points must actually sit flush on the contact points in perfect alignment
of the watch. You might have to reshape male part of charging wire. I still
have original charging wire going on 4yrs now. Hope what fixed mine over a
year ago works for you.

Do like I did, bought a Garmin and then posted to my 1000 or so friends and followers on FB and Twitter that Fitbit knows about this defect and doesn't care.  Told them to spread the word to not buy Fitbits.

Been there, cleaned that using a toothpick as well as a pin. Even bought a
new charging cable and when that failed a docking station.

Thanks for the heads up, in the meantime my hack works 100% of the time and
charges to 100% every time. Why are you pushing Garmin on someone who has
no issue and is offering a tried & proven fix? Do you sell Garmin? If
someone offers salvation it's better to try it first than be negative &
turn it down. If you're not here to help solve the problem you should
leave the community.

I've tried your hack and it didn't work. I'll recommend any product that
works over a product that doesn't any day. I have several friends who've
also had Fitbits that stopped charging and were told by customer "service"
they had no recourse but to buy another Fitbit. I'll continue warning
people about this known defect that Fitbit won't fix

I owned 3 Fitbits including 2 Ionics. After the first refused to charge and all customer "service" would offer was a 25% off on another I gave it another chance. Again same issue that I eventually solved with no help from Fibit's so called service reps it promptly died after it got wet in the shower. So much for a tracker that was supposedly able to be used while swimming. Again customer "disservice" said so sad buy another I was reminded of the adage about fool me once etc. Bought a Garmin and it actually works, is more functional, is waterproof and looks good. There is a known issue with the Ionic and they refuse to address it. Thought when Google got involved it might improve but was not willing to wait. I don't work for Garmin but their product does what it is supposed to do.

I just one of these ionics to fix from a friend.which had similar sympton. When I first recieve I plugged it to a cigar lighter USB charger in my car ( it's a 2.4A charget) instantly showed %0 battery and that was it. Couldn't get it to display anything again.  Tried unplugging and plugging back in, different button combinations but nothing would work. I left it plugged in to a power bank while in store for abou half hour. When I grab fitbit it was warm almost hot. Fairly sure battery was charging just based on the heat. But still could not get any display. Anyway when I got home I plugged it in to my desktop PC and instantly showed %73 battery and all functions worked fine. I'm %100 sure but I want to day I read somewhere that if a firmware update is interrupted you will have to plug in to a computer with internet to finish firmware update.

I offered a suggested fix not an influence on another product, here listen
to yourself. I changed a few of your words. I changed "Fitbit" to "IPhone"
& "Garmin" to "Samsung"

I owned 3 Iphones including 2 Iphone 6's. After the first refused to charge
and all customer "service" would offer was a 25% off on another I gave it
another chance. Again same issue that I eventually solved with no help from
Iphone's so called service reps it promptly died after it got wet in the
shower. Again customer "disservice" said so sad buy another I was reminded
of the adage about fool me once etc. Bought a Samsung and it actually
works, is more functional, is waterproof and looks good. There is a known
issue with the IPhone and they refuse to address it. Thought when Google
got involved it might improve but was not willing to wait. I don't work for
Samsung but their product does what it is supposed to do.

So don't think for yourself or go look for what tracker you want, just go
buy a Garmin? I offered a fix for the Fitbit Ionic. I did not vent my
frustration or offer another name brand. But if people want suggestions
check out Xiamomi, Nurvv Run, Apple Watch Series, Fitbit Charge 4, or
Garmin, but research & go looking for what name brand fits your lifestyle.

I tried your fix and it didn't work.  I've read many posts from other Ionic victims who tried this fix and it didn't work.  So much for it working 100% of the time.  When a product has a known defect and the company won't stand behind their product then that company doesn't deserve customers

HerkNav, I offered a fix that worked for me and charges my Ionic 100% of
the time. I didn't mean it will work for everyone 100% of the time. Think
of it like this, if my haircut doesn't work for you, then it's not for you,
try a different haircut till you find one that works for you. Proverbs
says: as water reflects one's face so does one's words reflect their heart
❤. I can tell by your words there is some level of anger, hate, and
retaliation in your ❤. I am not Pro-Fitbit, just anti-negative-ism. I
offered a possible fix out of my ❤, what positive words did you offer out
of your ❤?

My recommendation is to take to social media and warn the unsuspecting
piblic, since we only speaking amongst fitbit owners.

Hi mate, my Fitbit is doing the same. I had issues charging, then with persistence and finding the sweet spot by wiggling the cable it charged, it was always an issue finding the sweet spot after this. Then the backlight started to fade while it still had charge. Now it won’t charge, no matter how I wiggle or change  charge points etc. I can’t reset it if The screen is blank. Any suggestions?
