Ionic stuck on 0% and won't charge

My ionic was working great and then the battery died the other day. I plugged it in to charge and came back a few hours later and it still says 0% when you press a button. It has now been on charge for 3 days and still says 0%. I have tried wall chargers and running it off the laptop USB but still nothing! I can't reset or do anything as there is no battery life! Help!

Take a toothpick or Q-Tip swab and thoroughly clean the watches’ charge contacts. Sweat/gunk gets in there and coats the contacts so that the charge cable can’t charge the watch even though the magnet makes it stick like it will.

Worked for me first try. Give the watch up to 3 minutes to register the “0% charge” screen after cleaning if the watch has been dead for a day or longer…

Hope this helps!

Use customer support. I had to send it in and should be getting the watch back soon.

Update from my side,

I was able to update my fitbit it started charging but the battery drain
problem remains, now it charges slower and battery doesn't last even a day.
😞 Trying to charge it few days full cycle - charge/discahrge maybe it will
help.

This just happened to me, and that's why I saw your post.
I am guessing that there is a bluetooth connection issue after the phone's battery hits 0%; the connection attempt by the phone and device interferes with the charging.
My ionic rose again after 1] restarting my phone, and then 2] a soft reset by holding the left and right bottom buttons. It worked only in that order for me (I tried a few different variations).
Thanks for your post.

It seems that the issue killed my battery, it is charging much slower now
and battery lasts less than a day. 😞 I've created support cause for that
but haven't heard back from them for a third day.

The same issue with my Iconic after about 4 months, 0% battery.  I would like to add that my Iconic gets hot if left to charge for a few hours, after which I then get a high temperature warning on the screen.  I have cleaned the contacts on the back of watch to nil effect.  The watch is being returned for replacement.  Any advice on not having this issue again?  Always clean contacts before charging?  Never let the watch run flat and die, ie 0%?

@Rhss Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for sharing the experience you have had with Ionic with us. I'm glad you are getting a replacement already.

This is not normal at all. I think that will not happen again with the new unit. However, keeping the charging contacts clean is a always good. You can clean them once in a while. Also, try charging Ionic when you get the low battery notifications, that way it will never run flat and die.

Once you receive the new watch please follow these replacement set up steps for you to not loose any of your previous data.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Hi dude. Hope you can help me out here. 0% shown when turned on. When under charge, able to turn on and function normally. Once cable pulled off, ionic instantly powered down. No light seen from the back when under charge.

When I had a similar issue, I turned my ionic off for a few seconds and then back on. It cleared the problem for me. Hope it works for you!

If you look at my post and follow the steps in order, that is what worked for me.
I think there is a bluetooth issue preventing the charging...

Thanks bud! I shut it down through Settings but it won’t come back on. Present condition: 0% shown when turned on. When under charge, able to turn on and function normally. Once cable pulled off, ionic instantly powered down. No light seen from the back when under charge. )

Try to leave it connected to the wall charger for an hour or so. Worked for
me.

There is something going on with the device's interaction with the phone or wifi or something like that.

I also experienced the same issue people have been having, let the ionic die and then plugged it in, I see the 0% come up on the screen and leave it plugged in overnight, still dead the next morning.

I later ended up plugging it in at work to charge (same cable, issue wasn't with charger contacts), and it started charging. At work however, I do not have the wifi configured. So I am guessing it has to do with that, reading other people's responses.

If this issue happens for you and you've verified that your charger contacts are clean, then try just charging it somewhere away from any configured wifi networks and turning off your phone even.

Basically get it out of contact with anything that it could interact with and see if it starts charging. I Would also recommend doing a restart while under these conditions as well.

How to get into the App on the Fitbit, when the fitbit itself won't charge to power on.  It remains at 0% and wont boot?  Please suggest a viable option.
