I have received a pm from a mod, telling me that my post about the Consumer Rights Act has been removed because I have been an advocate of legal action against Fitbit! At no point have I ever done this; what I have done is advise people of how legislation in the UK overrides warranties on most products and how UK customers can, if their product is faulty, have it replaced, by the retailer. How this can be deemed as legal action is quite beyond me and if moderators would have more interest in contacting Fitbit about disappointed customers, and understanding the written word, it would be far more beneficial to all, than misreading my posts and accusing me of things that I have not done. Where a company stands in the way of customers who wish to exercise their rights , that company should be very careful. For the avoidance of doubt, I have not ever suggested legal action. So, perhaps notice can be taken of faulty products. People here are here because they are not happy with their products. Fitbit: take note please! Don’t cover up by saying that I’m advocating legal action, when what you really mean is don’t stop people replacing a model direct from Fitbit at a discount, by advising them to return a faulty unit to the store of purchase for a refund, or a new one for nothing.

@Darcella @JasmineTG @rfjouben Thanks for your reply and for contacting customer support regarding this. Thanks for sharing your feedback. It's unfortunate to read that the solution provided wasn't the best for you. @Sbsocha Please do let me know how this turns out.
@sharenslz Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for sharing the experience you have had with Ionic. It's unfortunate to read that Ionic is not working properly. I'm glad Amazon was able to help you out with this.
@Deepak_dhami Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for reporting that you are also experiencing this situation. Please perform a restart on your watch. If that doesn't work; please try a factory reset. @dde33 Have you tried the factory reset already?
@johneric8 Thanks for sharing your feedback on this thread.
@Woodloper I hope you're doing well! Thanks for reporting and for sharing your feedback. It's unfortunate to read that you are also experiencing the same. I spoke to customer support and it seems you already have an open case with them. Hopefully, you will get a solution to get back on track soon. Let me know the outcome!
Keep me posted!

update
- my third replacement Ionic, which I received Jan 10th 2019 - and which failed Feb 7th 2019 - (must be some kind of a record even for Fitbit, ) was posted back to Amazon today at 11.00am, and at 12.15 pm they confirmed receipt of the parcel with their carrier and credited the full payment back to my bank !
Now, Fitbit - please note - that is customer service at it's best.
I have already ordered a Samsung Galaxy watch from them - paying gbp20.00 more than another web shop just to get the customer service guarantee.

My Ionic has also died after 15 months, nothing suggested has worked. Will not be replacing it, it seems to have built in failure after the warranty period has expired, with so many failing at the same time.

My Ionic also suddenly stopped working just after one year use, just going over the guarantee.Like everyone else have tried the reboot ,factory reset etc to no avail.
Very disappointed as until now was loving my Fitbit, i hope someone will see all the comments and issue a recall .
Fingers crossed

@TerryL.unfortunately recalls are only done when a product has a safety issue not for performance issues but it would be nice if they at least stood behind their products and replaced the defective devices and actually look into what they did wrong and fix the glitch that is causing the Ionic to fail at the 15 month point. This is only one post of several on this issue which make we wonder what percentage of the overal devices sold are failing.

Wow! Just 6 months each, something is really wrong with either the hardware or the software is flawed.

Curious if anyone has noticed if the Versa has a similar issue - have not checked on forum yet.- it has outsold the Ionic so should be some stats out there.
I'm totally wary now of getting another Ionic even if it had a big discount, so the Versa is next choice - I do like the Ionic watch environment - I have a watch face design I can put on the Versa so my programming time investment is not lost, also I don't really need GPS.
Side point, mechanically, my Ionic has held up well and looks like new - no screen protector yet blemish free and I have a number of brands that really let me dress it up/dn so I have been really pleased overall until it died. All of my (many) smartwatches/trackers are alive and well.

Thank you for your Tips,
All has been tried to revive the ionic, i have retried daily since its death on feb 4th 2019. 15 months after my original purchase.
I've been a various fitbit owner since they started and have had my share of problems with 4 devices but never anything like this. I've never had a device that would not restart or that waiting for an update didn't fix. I at one time felt very secure and sure about fitbit. But its the way this happened and the number of device's that it happened to all at the same time to a nearly 300 dollar watch that baffles me and makes me frustrated. As are others. I just really think that its more than the watch. Like firm wear,
Thanks again for your suggestions.

I also purchased mine in Nov. 2017 and it went dead during a run on Saturday (Feb. 9, 2019). When I got back from my run, I hooked it up to a charger thinking that the battery had died. Luckily, the watch came right on and showed that the battery was at 30%. I have no idea why it had suddenly switched off during the run, but feel really fortunate after reading these posts that it's still working.

Bought my fit bit in November of 2018. Watch got to 0%, and is a black screen. Put watch on charger, not charging. Cleaned contacts with Rubbing alcohol and tissue, still not charging. Cannot do a hard reset because Fitbit wont turn on. How do I get in touch with Customer Service to return. the watch is less than three months old

Three to six months is fairly typical for the ionic unfortunately. They will replace it but temper expectations though because a world record for the watch is like 15 months. You got nine more months for them to send you replacements so get em while they're hot!💥

I also bought my Ionic December 2017. It’s been a great watch/ tracker until yesterday when it just died. I’ve tried everything suggested to try to fix the problem and nothing!!! Kind of weird that it won’t charge but the Fitbit logo keeps flashing on and off every 20-30secs???? What is up with this brand?. I’ve owned several models of Fitbits and they all seem to fail just after the one year warranty is up. Yes, I expect that a watch that costs $300 to last longer than a year. Absolutely ridiculous. I’m so angry because I love this watch. Such a shame that they are not willing to do anything other than a possible discount. Why would I want to invest in another Fitbit that will most likely do the same thing. Amazed to see so many others in the same boat. Shame on you Fitbit for not standing behind your product and customers.....I’ve been a loyal customer for years but I think this will force me to rethink that decision and it’s time to move on.....

I suggest no one get to excited about having a case with customer support open on their behalf as it does not mean you will have your device replaced. If your warranty has expired the next level support will only restate the warranty and provide the solution of giving you a discount. I hope I am wrong and if I am please let everyone else know so we can get the same remedy.

Fitbit support have contacted me, and after letting them know when and where I purchased my ionic, they offered a 50% discount off a different tracker, or complimentary replacement of the ionic. I have taken the free replacement.
