Let me start with the headline of this article...
Apple Watch heart-rate sensor can detect diabetes with 85 percent accuracy..
It was posted today. I attached the link below.
When I say the way of blackberry, I mean Fitbit is doing that by not been proactive.
The ionic has the sensors but Fitbit is More concentrated on social application rather than fir and health. This will leas the company the way of the blackberry. They still around but they are not longer relevant. Or even worse the way of the palm pilot.

I agree with you about fitbit being short sighted and not pushing the envelope. The article is slightly misleading in that it works with patients that have already been diagnosed. Apple is definitely on the right track here, and your larger point about fitbit not innovating is well taken. I thought they would combine their fitness tracking chops with the great pebble smartwatch features to give us a groundbreaking product. I understand software development is hard, I work in the industry, but the buggy ionic software should be better. Yes they still push out Mac OS updates and it's a mature platform, but for fitbit to not execute at a higher level is not a good sign for their long term health as a company.

That's your feeling, and I respect it
However I thibk that fitbit tries to make the product working before introducing new features.
A lot of people here can't sync the ionic with phone and/or receive notifications
Personnally, the ionic doesn't stay connected to my phone (smart unlock doesn't work) and I don't receive call notifixations.
Moreover, the watch miss from time to time (1 on 4days, so not really a problem) the text notifications.
I have to say that, considering they seem to be unable to make this product working, I took a new watch from an other company (the watch works like a charm)
I watch fitbit, cause I love the design of the product and the features. But, if nothing is done, I will switch all equipment to the company that product the new watch I bought (means the watch of my wife and replacing my fitbit aria)
So, I think they better work on making their product functionnal....
