Ionic time zone won't update

My ionic will not update to the current time zone regardless of how many times I try to sync.

The watch is useless if you can't get it to tell the correct time.

How do you make the watch show the correct time if syncing with with the app does not do it??

Nope : just been to India, Singapore, New Zealand : trick is to connect to
Internet (= $$$$), then set manual time zone, synch three times (or more),
pray, wait ten minutes and then sometimes its OK.

Ha! I could do that with a cheap Timex. They seriously need to fix the
Ionic or stop calling it a watch.

For comparison, my new Garmin Vivoactive Music display's the correct time within 15 seconds of my phone coming out of airplane mode without ever opening any apps.

I have done that. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times and keep
synching. If we have to turn off auto time zone and turn it back on and
synch, it's clearly not an automatic function. I live in north Florida
where the time zone in the panhandle is central time and Tallahassee is
eastern time zone. Going from Tallahassee FL to Marianna, FL an hour away,
and back to Tallahassee would require me to stop and change the automatic
time change settings multiple times going each way. And since there is no
way to know exactly where in the route the time zone changes, it would be
impossible to know exactly when to get off the highway and reset the
non-automatic "automatic" time zone change function.

Hi

Yes I continuously have the same problem and have tried all the suggested fixes to achieve the correct time.

From what I can see with my Ionic the WiFi function is terrible and it loses the Wi-fi signal all the time. It will then refuse to pick up the WiFi signal even when placed next to the router/modem. Often I have to turn off the watch to get it to reconnect to WiFi)

(I’m on my 4th Ionic after 8 months as the first three would not work correctly, mainly with WiFi problems.  Fitbit customer services try to fix the problem, give up each time and then send me a new one. The same problems keep occurring with the new watch. Basically, in my opinion the watch is flawed and is not fit for purpose.  I now have a drawer filling up with faulty Ionic watches. Maybe Fitbit should take them back and work out why this watch doesn’t work in a consistent manner? I’m happy to send them all back to you Fitbit you need only ask!)

Anyway, back to my fix.    All 4 of the watches I have had drop the WiFi connection continuously I have to repeatedly try to get the watch to connect to WiFi   What I find is that the watch will do a general daily (or continuous) sync using bluetooth but will not update the time zone unless connected to WiFi.

So I turn off the automatic time zone function and click on the manual zone I want.  Then go to WiFi and make sure that is connected (which inevitably it is not), then sync and the time zone will change.

The trouble is is when you are out and about and changing time zones this is when you probably will not have WiFi and (in my experience anyway) the watch will not update to the correct zone..

Fitbit, comments please?

GolfBravo380,

I added GMT + 5:30 about a month ago. I suggest you update to the latest version and see if the option shows up. If it is not working, please let me know.

I too am a pilot and made this clock face for personal use. However, because of a lack of support from Fitbit with correcting their horrid connection issues (especially catching time zone changes), I no longer wear my Fitbit Ionic. Therefore, the only way I know if there is an error is if users tell me.

Captain Behal,

I understand you want a GMT + 30?  I can do that. Give me a week or so...

Back to the thread...has Fitbit fixed their time zone issue, or does the watch still not track correctly?

Two years later... Ionic with current firmware still won't update for a timezone change, despite the app showing the correct zone and being set to automatically update the watch, despite multiple synchs, despite rebooting the watch.

You'd think a watch maker would understand that showing the correct time is the single most important thing about a watch.

My Ionic died and I am not replacing it. I have been through many Fitbit
devices at this point. They just don't last.

Thanks for for your comments Suraky.  I totally agree!

FITBIT WHY DO YOU NOT RESPOND?

I wrote what I hoped was a measured post way back in April trying to try to help the many other Ionic users suffering Wi-fi/time zone problems and also asking Fitbit to respond.  Nada!

Pothole I can fully understand your decision to walk away.

A great shame but it would seem that too many of us have problems with the Ionic and Fitbit don’t seem willing to acknowledge there is an issue or indeed show any sign of wanting to fix it.

Surely Fitbit scans this site??  Maybe a letter to James Park will help.........tbc

The value (or lack of) Fitbit stock reflects the value Fitbit places on its (soon to be former) customer concerns.
