16 mile ride today which despite being connected during the ride on checking with strava it all recorded as Zero along with wrong date and time (frustrating as it was my longest ride due to health issues) any info/help would be appreciated. I have checked via laptop my fitbit app which has not recorded today's activity

Sorry to hear that your 16 mile ride wasn't tracked correctly. In this case, I would like you to make sure that when tracking an activity, you're using the Exercise app this ensure that it tracks GPS data.
Also keep in mind that the activities that will sync between Fitbit and Strava need to have GPS data in order to transfer between the two.
Last but not least, you may want to delete the activity that was tracked and manually log it, this to get the correct information displayed in your app. Please let me know the information you're seeing in your Fitbit app.
