I am very sure there is some bugs with ionic, flag ship fitbit having this issue.
Once awhile the distance on treadmill just go crazy wrong, steps are correct but the total distance is wrong.
Refer to the screen capture and teh maths will do the taking.
The total distance should be 12km+ but calculated by ionic is only 7km+.
It is totally wrong.
I have reported this some time back but it seem to me it is not fixed..
Can we work on this bugs ?

It will never count correctly on a treadmill.
You not covering an exact distance because you are not moving forward.
Also See this thread by MrMarv
It explains it very well

The inaccuracy is too high 7km vs 12km. How can you explain this? And I never hold the bar.
Also some times the distance calculation, it can be quite close. < 0.5km different compare to treadmill distance .
I like to know how does ionic calculated the treadmill distance. Steps count X stride length?
I assume this is method.

Make sure your stride length is set correctly on your fitbit account, Don't use set stride automatically. I walk on my treadmill whenever the weather is nasty and my Ionic agrees with my treadmill distance within a very small margin all the time.

Hi Ohwell,
my stride length were correct. The steps counts were pretty close to my previous run.
But just the total distance doesn't sum up.
This is not the first time I am having this issue . Some time fitbit treadmill distance just goes crazy wrong. The maths doesn't sum up.

Check out the inaccuracy of treadmill distance from ionic, again.it should be 15km but ionic only clock 8km.
This is an on going problem for quite sometime, so far no fitbit support can resolve the issue..
Again, I didn't hold the bar. I did swing my arms, the auto stride length
Fitbit support, Pls tell me how is the treadmill distance been calculated .
Stride length X steps count?
