Ionic weather

I have had a fitbit ionic since Christmas. The face I am using should show the current outside temperature but never does except right after I sync it. The weather app never show weather unless I sync it. Sync is turned on all day. If I have to sync my watch just to see the temp every time then what a waste. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Hi, @Givey, your Fitbit cannot possibly know the current weather except when you sync it, and it will always reflect

1. the last time the weather app was updated, and

2. the last time your Fitbit was synced to connect to the weather app.

There is no thermometer or weather prediction device included in your watch...!  Only a sync will update it -- so pretty much everyone who uses a clock face including weather has experienced this, and this is also true of Applewatch. Garmin, and other "smart" watches.  They are all only as up to date as the most recent sync -- and, when it comes to weather, also the most recent update to the weather info.

One final point: different watch faces use different weather services, which may update at different times and frequency.

ps edited to say, I see you report that the temp does not "show" unless you have recently synced.  While it is true that your watch face will only "know" the weather from the last sync, it may be that your particular watch face is set not to show outdated temperatures.  In that case you might want to experiment with a different watch face.

Mine shows a temperature all the time -- but I am always aware that the temperature may be incorrect if I have not recently synced.

I hope this helps.
