Ionic - why is always "connecting" and unable to connect

I used to have the surge, and usually from connecting... to "quick start" was just a matter of 1-2 seconds. With my new Ionic, when I start a run, it is always "connecting" and I can't seem to get connected. 

 

Any help will be much appreciated!

Are you referring to it connecting to the GPS or the app?
