Ionic will not connect to Iphone 8

After one year of perfect operation my Ionic now fails to connect to my iPhone 8.  It began when I visited another time zone (Eastern -> Central).  The iPhone automatially changed the time and so did the Ionic - as we moved into Central.  While there, it began not connecting. - followed all the suggestions about getting near the router, fully charged, "forget other blue tooth devices"  No luck.

When we returned to Eastern Time and our home wireless network - where it has worked perfectly for a year - the problem continues.  As of this writing the app shows "Found it!" with "connecting to Tracker" at the bottom of the screen with that "wheel of death" spinning for over an hour.  I have repeated procedure several times with no results.  I reset the ionic several times with same result.  Any suggestions out there?

Hallelujah!!! Thank you for the excellent help and guidance for fixing the bug in my system! The step - previously unknown to me - that did the trick was shutting down the Ionic. I had tried the two button "reset" numerous times, but - no joy. So with that little detail taken care of, I'm back on the game again.
Thank you again!
And Merry Christmas to you and all the FitBit gang there.
