Ionic will not connect via wireless or Blutooth on WIN10

Received a brand new Ionic for Xmas, hooked it up Christmas day according to the instructions, all went well and it was working fine until 12/30. It stopped syncing and I could not get it to sync. I went through all the recommended restart/reset procedures to no avail.

Removed the app from my laptop and reinstalled. Nope!

Bit the bullet and did a factory reset. BIG mistake for me. Now it appears hung at the start up screen. “HI, Get started at www fitbit.com/setup.”

--- No button, or combination of buttons, will get it by this screen.

Trying to set up my device in the app:

An issue occurred while pairing your tracker

Tracker:

Check settings:

Bluetooth on

Tracker not listed

Manual add to Bluetooth:

It is not recognized by Bluetooth. Bluetooth searches and searches, never finds my tracker. (It’s sitting right next to my laptop spinning away at the “Get Started” notification!)

Bluetooth off:

Insert wireless sync dongle and click “Start”. Returns me right back to the same screen regardless of how many time I click start.

It does not recognize the wireless dongle when attached. (The dongle is connected properly to the tracker and to my laptop.)

Any Ideas?  I’m spending way too much time on this.

@ArcticCatXF8000 may I ask what type of phone or computer are you using to setup the tracker? Yes as you realize seeing the setup message means that the tracker has been removed from your account and needs to be setup again.

Have you removed the Ionic from your phones Bluetooth settings, or maybe the command is to tell the phone to forget the ionic.

Hi Rich,

I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with WIN10. My "phone" is not in the equation. 1 laptop, 1 Ionic, that's it. When I search for a device in Bluetooth, because the tracker is not listed as a connected device, it does not find my Ionic.

Should my Tracker be stuck at the "Get started at ~fitbit.com/setup" stage?  It WILL NOT go past that point.

Thanks

Until it is setup, yes it will be stuck on the setup page.

I had the same problem after Ionic updated to Fitbit 3.0. Try the following:

  1. Shutdown your Ionic (from Ionic menu)
  2. Leave it off for about 30 minutes (to clear the memory cache)
  3. Remove your Ionic from the Fitbit app
  4. Unpair Ionic from Bluetooth on your phone
  5. Turn off and on your phone's Bluetooth
  6. After 30 minutes, turn on your Ionic
  7. Re-add to the Fitbit app (it should be detected again)

This worked for me the last couple of days but sadly, syncing stops after about 30 minutes BUT it has been syncing intermittently the last couple of hours.

Firmware issue so hopefully Fitbit will resolve this issue ASAP or revert every user back to the previous version (that worked).

  1. Shutdown your Ionic (from Ionic menu)  - I can't! It's stuck at the setup screen
  2. Leave it off for about 30 minutes (to clear the memory cache) - See above.
  3. Remove your Ionic from the Fitbit app - Did this
  4. Unpair Ionic from Bluetooth on your phone - Using a laptop, but have removed
  5. Turn off and on your phone's Bluetooth - Tried
  6. After 30 minutes, turn on your Ionic
  7. Re-add to the Fitbit app (it should be detected again) - Will not detect my Ionic via Bluetooth OR the wireless dongle, errors every time. See photos

The only way to get the ionic setup message off the screen will be by doing the same steps that was done doing the initial setup.

Your doing a factory reset removed the tracker from your account.

Rich,

If what you say is true... My FitBit is junk!

If it would have behaved the way it did when I originally set it up, I wouldn't be on here asking why no Bluetooth device can see it or why the wireless dongle is useless as well. Thanks for your input I'll see if it can be sent back.

I simply said that you will need to do a setup of your ionic. You chose to do a factory reset which removed the ionic from your account.

Did you buy a Fitbit dongle? Does your Toshiba have built in Bluetooth? If it does you will need to turn it's Bluetooth off when inserting the dongle.

When you say that no Bluetooth device can see the ionic, your only interested in the Fitbit app setting the Ionic, your phones Bluetooth may not see it, and can not do anything with it even if it can see it.
