Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Charmaine1971.
Thanks for the details shared in your post and for already trying to resolve the issue. I recommend making sure your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version as updates come with new features and bug fixes: How do I update the Fitbit app? Please check if GPS connects after each step:
1. Force quit, and reopen the Fitbit app to refresh the connection with your device.
2. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
3. Restart your phone.
For more information about using GPS, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
Hope this helps!

I have the same problem as the OP--but only on the Run setting of the Exercise app, and only for the past 14 days (previously worked!). When I use the app for hiking and select Hike mode, GPS mapping works perfectly and downloads full data on route, steps, splits, distance, elevation, including map. When I select Run, only gives me distance (often inconsistent--shows 2 x my actual run), splits and pace--no map. GPS continually searches in Run mode. I have tried all online suggestions, reloaded Fitbit app 17 times, restarted both watch and phone 40+ times, ensured software is up-to-date . . . Very annoying when relying on mapping data for distance training. Please help!
