My ionic won’t hold a charge for more than a few hours. Is there a fix.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Breckern, hope you're doing great! Smiley Very Happy The length of time your Fitbit device operates on a full charge depends on how frequently you use it and various settings.

If your phone is running the Android 8 operating system, you may see a notification letting you know the Fitbit app is using battery resources.

Consider these tips when you want to conserve battery life:

  • Make sure you're charging Ionic fully each time. It can take up to 2 hours to charge your watch.
  • Turn off All-Day Sync in the Fitbit app because it increases battery drain on both your watch and phone. Note that if you turn off All-Day Sync, certain apps including Weather won't work since data isn't being sent from the Fitbit app to your watch:

    1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon  > your device image.
    2. Find the option to turn off All-Day Sync.
  • Turn off the option to wake the screen when you turn your wrist; instead, tap the screen to turn it on:
    • On your watch, press and hold the back button, then swipe to the shortcuts screen > Screen Wake > Manual.
  • If you don't need heart rate data, change the Heart Rate setting to Off. Note that the green LED continues to flash even if Heart Rate is turned off.
  • Turn off call, text, calendar, and app notifications if you know you're going to receive many hundreds of notifications. A large volume reduces battery life:
    • On your watch, press and hold the back button, then swipe to the shortcuts screen > Notifications > Off.
  • Charge your watch more often if:
    • You play music or use the music controls frequently
    • You use apps that keep the watch's screen on, use GPS, or frequently access the internet
    • You use an interactive or animated clock face
  • Don't receive reminders to move every hour. To get fewer reminders, make sure you walk 250 steps each hour, change the number of hours you want your stationary time monitored, or turn off the feature on days you don't need it.
  • If you have many silent alarms set, consider deleting some. Each alarm you add up to the maximum of 8 reduces battery life by a small percentage.
  • Shut down Ionic when it's not in use.

Give this a shot and let me know if notice an improvement on your Ionic's battery life. I'll be around!

I am having the same problem.  I followed all of the recommended actions, and it got a little better, but still discharges within 6-8 hours.

Contact support ASAP. Fitbit ionics are dropping like flies to the 8-month battery plague and warranty service is really slow. That is, if they warranty your watch at all -- they found an excuse to wriggle out of the "1yr mfg. warranty" in my case, leaving me with a useless brick. I hope you guys have better luck than I did 😞

Hello! I was reading your post and you said Fitbit replaced your Ionic with no hassles when your battery stopped holding a charge. I have had my Ionic since Father's day last year, so almost 1 year now...just shy. My Ionic battery drains in about 6 hours now, so would love some advice on how to have them replace it without the hassle. Let me know!

Thank you,

Skyler

I took all the steps too and nothing helped. The weird thing about it is last week it was holding a charge just fine then the other day I charged before work then got into work and didn’t even make it halfway through my shift.

Yep, same situation it sounds like. I got in touch with customer care. Ran a charge test to make sure the charging was truly not working. Determined same day it was a faulty mechanism issue and sent me a new one. Got it within 3 days. They were great!Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I have the same issue, even if I dont  put it on it only lasts 8 hours from a full charge. I made it to 18 months but I expected longer from a £300 watch!
