Recently I am struggling to sync my ionic to my iPhone 6. It is set to 'all-day sync and wasn't a problem before. Over the past 2 weeks I have been having to restart my ionic to make if sync but today it won't even work. In addition over the past 2 night it has lost 10 minutes whichmademe late yesterday! Any ideas?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Penton999, hope you're doing great! Thanks for already restarting your Ionic in order to sort this out, nice way to go!

While reading your post, my first thought is that your Ionic might be no longer paired to your Fitbit account and that's why it's not syncing or connecting to your phone's Bluetooth. In order to solve this, please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Ionic and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device".

Once you've made sure about that, go back to the Fitbit app, go to the "Account" option in the upper right corner and select "Set up a Device". This should start the setup process for your device. Smiley Very Happy

If you can't get started with your Fitbit device, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements below, if you're using the Fitbit app for iOS, Android, or Windows 10:

  • Note that you can't set up your Fitbit device from your phone or tablet's Bluetooth screen; you must open the Fitbit app and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • The software on your phone or tablet is up to date. To see if an update is waiting to be installed:
    • iOS—Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
    • Android—Tap Settings > About Phone or About Device > Android Version.
    • Windows 10—Tap or click Start > Settings > Update & security.
  • The Bluetooth setting on your phone or tablet is on. To find it:
    • iOS—Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
    • Android—Tap Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
    • Windows 10—Click or tap Settings > Devices > Bluetooth.
  • (Android only) Double-check the following information about your phone or tablet:

If you're still unable to set up, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Try setting up your device again.
  3. Restart your Ionic again.
  4. Try setting up your device again.
  5. If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your phone or tablet (turn it off and then back on).
  6. Try setting up your device again.
  7. If you can't set up after the reboot, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app.

Note that if your tracker is not paired, it won't show the correct time as it grabs the time of your phone. Check this post in case the time keeps showing wrong.

Give this a go and let me know the outcome!

I have already tried all of these my conclusion being the Bluetooth on the ionic  is not working. And thinking about it I do not think it has ever worked 100% as connection with my phone,  texts, phone calls egg has been very hot & miss. However I have contacted my supplier and they are sending me another, but thanks anyway

Thanks for the update @Penton999! I'm glad to hear that a new tracker is on its way.

Remember that you can set up your new tracker on your currently Fitbit account without losing any previous data by following these steps:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose your device and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

I'll be around if you need further assistance!

Mine’s doing the same.

tried all of the above; in fact I’ve invested so much time in trying to resolve it I’ve simply had enough now.

Cant rely on it anymore as a watch so it’s redundant, it’s going in the bin

Just in case anyone else is experiencing something similar my Ionic did almost the very same thing. I noticed yesterday it was not syncing with my phone and when I woke up this morning the time was almost 30 mins. slow. I tried everything I knew to do (remove watch, remove app, restart bluetooth, etc) and had no luck. Finally did a chat with tech support which was great and they are sending me another device under warranty.

Just fyl - AT&T Samsung S9+ with all latest firmware, software, etc.

good luck!

I have had the same problem starting last night. The only thing that has worked so far has been to restart the Ionic, which I did this morning. By this evening it has lost 10 minutes again and will not sync.

Mine was less than a year old and I got a replacement. But seems like a common issue. My new 1 works fine

Unbelievable, at the moment they are not admitting any kind of problem to
me. Started a full factory reset last night and now I can’t even find it on
Bluetooth, let alone connect and bring it onto my account as a device.
Two hours this morning and I’ve had to park it again while I go to work.
I now have no confidence in it as a timepiece and a fast demonising
confidence in the integrity of Fitbit as a company.
It’s a bloody headache I don’t need

Not much different here. I woke up today and it was over 20 minutes different. When I look at the Bluetooth devices on my phone it flips from Connected to Disconnected while I watch, so there is definitely a problem with the device and it's Bluetooth transmission. Attempting to reinstall now... not holding my breath. My watch is less then a year old as well.

See my new topic in syncing every time. Quick suggestion> forget the BS about forgetting then adding your Fitbit. Short answer》Make sure the device you use to sync with is set to only hookup to the 2.4GHz bandwidth and not the faster 5GHz one when you sync. At last after many months I can relax and enjoy my Ionic

Not sure about this. My issue is with Bluetooth, not wifi. The device would
not connect to my phone. I have since sent it back to Fitibit. I was losing
time over the course of the day, as much as 25 minutes over an 8 hour
period. In some instances I could actually see it connecting /
disconnecting by watching the devices list in my Settings. I attempted a
full factory reset with the Help of a Fitbit agent and was not able to get
the device to be found once we did. Waiting to see what they say once they
get it back.

Fitbit sent replacement, that arrived yesterday. I set it up last night and
updated the software etc.

Today all appears to be as it should.
It looks to sync without issue and record data while; keeping time.

The old one had certainly developed a fault, and it would seem to me that
this is a problem several people are having.

Fingers crossed I’m sorted but it’s been a frustrating few weeks.

Having problems with 2 Ionics one the touch screen has a spot in the middle and won’t allow you to use some of the apps. The second one is loosing time i have to sync it that works but only for a day then looses time the next day.

Hey there @HoneyBea. Thank you for sharing the solution that worked for you with the Community.

Thanks for sharing the solution that you got from Customer Service @olesensa and @BriWilly

It's great to have you here @Kirk123! I would like you to try the following troubleshooting, try a restart for your Ionic's display not working at all. For the Ionic that's loosing time, please try to restart it as well. After this, try changing the timezone to a different one and sync. Finally, change it to the correct one and test it.

Let me know how it goes!

And it looks like I have the same problem as everyone else.  Clock is off and it won't sink.  Now that I have removed the Ionic, I can't get it to reload.  I've reset WiFi and Bluetooth.  I'm so fruistrated.

Call them, walk thru the troubleshooting. If you are still under warranty
they should replace it.
