Ionic won't track stationary exercises [treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike]

I have 3 fitbit devices, that I use interchangeably depending on what I'm wearing or what I'm doing, or which one is being charged.  I have a Flex, a Charge HR, and now an Ionic.

In the past, with my flex or Charge HR, when I was using the treadmill, stationary bike, or elliptical, I would somehow affix the fitbit device to my shoe, or stick it in my sock,or something of that nature.

With this new Ionic, I've been trying to do the same, but it isn't working.  For example, I was on my stationary bike for 75 minutes today, and while I was on it, i kept watching my fitbit app counter advance, showing that steps were counting.  But then later on in the day, those steps disappeared such that now it shows 19 "steps" taken during that 75 minutes.  The only reason I can think for this is that somehow it doesn't count steps if it is not also registering a heart rate?  In any event, it is very frustrating to have over an hour of exercise with 0 steps to show for it.

Also, tonight my flex registered NO steps between 8pm and midnight, though I was wearing it while walking to and from dinner, and then dancing.

In short, I have come to hate fitbit and everything to do with it, and feel like I just want to flush all 3 devices and start fresh with another brand of tracker.  I need someone to convince me otherwise, or please tell me what I can do to fix these very annoying occurrences.

Just tonight, I have restarted my phone several times, attempted syncing dozens of times, all to no avail.

@MonicaM79, I can't/won't try to convince you not to get another brand tracker - that is solely your decision - nor do I know why all of sudden all of your trackers quit recording your activity, but it does seem strange that nothing seems to work all at once.   But, for the Ionic you could improve your activity recording by using the MultiSport Exercise modes for Elliptical, Treadmill, or Spinning to record activities for the Elliptical, Treadmill, or Stationary Bike.

The Ionic kind of an expensive product. If you're going to pay 300 dollars to try using it the same way that a couple years old Flex that costed a third of its price back in the day, you may be doing wrong.

With that^ being said, there's an exercise mode for the Ionic and you can track treadmill sessions using that. It's a lot more accurate than just wearing it an expecting it to recognize the activity.

Now the second part of the problem is the fact that the information seems to be syncing and then disappearing or not syncing at all. I know for a fact that when you have multiple Fitbits there's a chance that they'll overwrite each other's info when you sync them all at the same time.

I don't think that's the way that they're supposed to work, so it must be a bug of some sort.
