Ionic won't turn on after battery ran out while swimming

My ionic battery ran out of power while I was swimming laps. I put it on charge when I got home. After charging for six hours it wouldn't turn back on after holding down menu and the bottom button.

I cleaned the contacts with a soft toothbrush, let it dry and put it back on charge for two hours It started feeling hot so I took it off charge.

It still won't turn on.

There's nothing flashing on screen. There's no lights at the back.

I've tried to turn it on two days later and still nothing.

This was a $375 watch and Ive only had it for 8 months. Please help!

Possibly water got inside. Put it in a bag of uncooked rice for 24 hours and see if that helps.

I've been swimming with it for weeks and not had this problem. They're meant to be water resistant to 50m and I'm only swimming laps.

"They're meant to be water resistant to 50m"

@lilithjade,

Misleading marketing spin. Otherwise I would be using mine for SCUBA diving to recreational limits (40 metres).

It's rated to a pressure test of 50 metres. Quite different to water pressure test of 50 metres.

Check other posts for info regarding the inadequacy of the WR50 certification.

Needs to be/shouild be WR100 certified for swimming and most water sports.

Yours is still under warranty. Get it replaced and DON"T SWIM or shower with the replacement. Your one of the lucky ones!

@PaulMe

Thanks for the message.

I agree, they SHOULD be water resistant to 50m if they say they are!

They have a lap swimming function, and I wouldn't have bought the bloody thing if it wasn't water resistant.. the lap swimming function was one of the reasons I got it in the first place! Will have to look in to warranty...

Pretty misleading if water is the culprit.

What about sweat?! It's a sports watch for crying out loud!

 I have had mine 6 months and all okay and i have swam with it  often. My daughter has hers for 2 years with  problems until now; currently nothing gets recorded. Although this is not a water issue now that we are looking into trying to resolve the problem (and can't) we are both regretting getting a Fitbit. I'd get a refund if you can while it's still under warranty as its not able to do what Fitbit claimed. if you go beyond the one year warranty you may regret it.
