I went to bed last night, Fitbit Ionic completely fine per usual, about 40% battery. I woke up at midnight to find my Fitbit would not turn on. I tried charging it since I have had battery issues with other models but it still will not turn on.

Just had the same issue. My fitbit was working fine. Did the update and now the device is dead. Had 76% battery and it died while walking to dinner.
Tried all the different reset suggestions. And nothing worked.

Customer Service and Technical Support will just ask you to buy new unit.... Hahahha... Funny Support and very bad item. I wasted my money for this piece of junk.

Same thing has just happened to me. Woke up this morning to a dead ionic. I got mine in May 2018 and have contact customer support but I imagine they'll say the same thing to me about being out of warranty. It's funny how this has happened a few days after doing the update.
Update: Spoke to customer service who were very helpful. Turns out I'm eligible for a replacement which is very fortunate.

Mine did that Sunday while it was on. Just died.
I did do a firmware update late last week and then the battery started depleting quickly. Not sure if they are related.
Wonderful customer service went through their script and then offered me 25% of my next purchase. This is the 3rd device I had that died or the screen cracked (without banging it on anything - this was under warranty so I guess I should call it my fourth device).
I will never buy a fitbit brand device again at this point. The only shame is that it took my wife and I a total of 7 devices between the two of us, with 6 mysteriously dying, to come to the realization that there is a design problem across multiple lines when it comes to what I can only surmise is the power system since we can't get even a stuck screen or buzz when connected to a power source.

Mine too is under 24 months. Spent a lot of money on it. Very disappointed ☹️ it was out of the blue and screen just shut off and won’t come back on.

I'm so done with Fitbit. Mine magically worked and started charging and worked again for a month or two, now the screen wont display anything. I can tell it's charged and working because the backlight is on and the heart rate monitor is flashing, but the screen is all black. Tried "resetting" it too many times, and that's too many minutes of my time wasted.
Bought a Garmin after and thus far it beats Fitbit in every single aspect. No regret switching to Garmin and will never switch back.

I should start saving. I reset my device several times and now it seems okay, battery life back to normal, but there is a new thing: it now doesn't pair with all my phones. Bluetooth hangs, then quickly sneaks in and syncs, whenever it wants to, not when you ask it to. I have reported this to support and after several FAQs, they finally admitted that this is a known issue *sigh* 🙄
Now waiting for resolution or patch. The are good people, but slow.

go for a garmin 245 music. many of the same features as the Ionic, plus a whole lot of other stuff.
