Ionic won't update firmware version

I can't seem to update my Fitbit Iconic, and I've gone through all the forums.

I've plugged my Fitbit device into my computer to try and update it as it is version 27.31.1.16  but there is no update button on the Fitbit app or on the desktop page when I click on the device. I have the latest version of the app and have all day sync on and there is no pink update button when I click through The Today tab > your profile picture > your device image.

Is there a way I can update it so I can get apps that need a later firmware update?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for getting back, I've tried again using those pages, but there is still no update button on my Fitbit. I've tried shutting it down and restarting as well. Also have disconnected from my phone and set it up again. Not sure what else I can do.

Thanks Liv

@Liv.jennings,

You sure you have the latest version of the app? All day sync  was removed many versions ago.

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry I meant background app refresh. Yeah it's definitely the newest version, I have deleted and re-downloaded the app when I first tried to update it. It hasn't been updated since I bought it back in 2018 so I'm thinking maybe a factory reset might work but leaving that as a last attempt.

Yep last resort. Can't guaranteed it will boot back up. But if you haven't done a factory reset for nearly two years - it will probably benefit from one - as long as it comes back.

😐

TBH, I'd probably bypass the latest version (27.70.8.0) given how it has bricked SO MANY Ionics or caused issues. If everything works, then leave it as nothing earth shattering added to the latest version. Wait for the next release after 27.70.8.0. No way can it be as bad!

😉

There is "possibly" annecdotal evidence that earlier Ionics with maybe (no confirmation on different HW versions since release) an earlier hardware version are more succeptable to issues when installing the later firmware updates.

Complete silence from the company on this theory though, for obvious reasons.

😁
