Ionic won't work on Huawei Mate 9 or LG V20

Hi all.

I'm having serious syncing problems on both of these phones. I've tried unibstalling fitbit and reinstalling, turning off Bluetooth, resetting and turning off the watch.  Nothing suggested by the staff here works. Does anyone have any other ideas or do I have to return this? I really wanted to love fitbit but it's been nothing but a headache and disappointment not to mention a lot of time wasted

😞

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @StarSpun! Thanks for already troubleshooting this inconvenience, nice way to go!

The reason why your tracker is not syncing/pairing with your Huawei Mate 9 or LG V20 is due to these devices are not compatible with the Fitbit app

This means that our Android team has not yet tested them for compatibility and added them to the list what means that we don't have a estimated date on when they will be added. If the device supports BLE (AKA Bluetooth 4.0), I recommend giving the setup flow a try to see if you can successfully connect your tracker.

If setup does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a Windows 10/Mac computer with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 running the Fitbit Software. Our Android team is always working to test and add more Android devices to the supported devices list, so keep an eye open for updates!

My sister owns a Huawei which is not yet a supported device, but she has tried the following (which I think won't hurt if you try that as well):

1. Your phone must not be set to "visible for other devices"
2. Your phone must not be "searching for other devices"

If either of these two things are active, the Fitbit cannot connect.

In other words, you have to set it to invisible, and you have to click the stop button if it is searching for devices. So, Bluetooth should be on, but not doing anything at all in the Bluetooth menu. Then force quit the Fitbit app and it'll sync. At least it has done with my sister's phone for over a month or so.

If you're able to connect your phone to your tracker but you keep having syncing issues, keep in mind that this will be due to the incompatibility of the phone. What means that the functionalities have a chance to work if you try some troubleshooting steps, I'd suggest following these steps:

  1. Uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit App.
  2. Turn off the Bluetooth, WiFi or mobile data and phone.
  3. Once the previous steps are done, restart your Fitbit.
  4. Turn the phone, Bluetooth and Internet connection back on and try to sync again.

If the previous steps does not work, you can also try the syncing process with a different mobile device or use the computer by downloading the Fitbit Connect software as I've suggested before.

Hope this helps, I'll be around if you need further assistance!

Thanks for writing and the additional ideas. I can't seem to find where to locate those Bluetooth options. Strange.

I think what it comes down to is, I have to return this. I wanted something to work with my phone for notifications as well. I'm not into carrying around a tablet, phone and watch everywhere I go. I so wanted to love this. How disappointing. The fitbit app is great and I love the sleep tracking. I hate to go to apple watch... This sucks! 😞

Anytime @StarSpunSmiley Very Happy

Well, let me help. Do the following:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Stay on Connection tab. Select Bluetooth
  3. Turn on Bluetooth.
  4. Call the Menu.
  5. Tap on Visibiilty timeout
  6. Tap on Never timeout

Once you have done the steps above your device will be always visible and discoverable by other devices via Bluetooth. All you have to do is turn on Bluetooth.

And, as I've mentioned before, you have to set your phone to invisible, and you have to click the stop button if it is searching for devices. So, Bluetooth should be on, but not doing anything at all in the Bluetooth menu. Then force quit the Fitbit app and it'll sync.

Note that we don't guarantee this should work since as I've stated before, both devices you have are not compatible with the Fitbit app.

I'm sharing the steps that worked for my sister, I hope they work for you too. Don't lose the hope yet my friend!

Keep me posted, I'm here!

Heya....

So I'm thinking my phone is different.... There is no menu in the Bluetooth area to do these things. I can only turn Bluetooth on and off. I've Google this with my.phone model but for some reason can't figure it out. Arg.

Oh boy more issues. Having problems syncing it to the computer. Finally did but it won't connect to wifi, and when I try to activate Deezer (says it's activated, paired, etc, I even added a song) it just keeps giving me the activation code on the watch over and over. It feels like everything I do fails on this thing....it's not ready yet, not sure why it's been put on the market. Endless problems it seems. I've spent all day doing this and I'm finished! Crazy!!!! And it seems I'm not the only one. Back to crapple, but at least crapple works lol!

Well, it would sync one out of about 20 or 30 times on the phone, so I guess for some reason I was ok with that. It syncs ok with the PC laptop, but I cannot get music on the device nor connect to wifi.

I tried on my MAC laptop and it was syncing until today. Now NADA. And it won't sync on the phones anymore either. PC is still ok, although very glitchy at points.

Fitbit needs to get their $hit together! Totally unacceptable. Still not sure what to do because when it does sync, I love the info and the sleep tracking and I love that it syncs with LoseIt.

What to do what to do!
