It seems odd that we won't be able to use previous Windows versions to add music to the Ionic, what are those of us who use older versions going to do?
It's a bit dissapointing that it doesn't have bluetooth transfer capability.

@Freak3150, my understanding is no, Windows 10 is not required to store music on the Ionic. I have read of at lease two or three different means of storing music; no way Fitbit would limit it to just Windows 10, there sure would be a lot of really mad Mac owners. 🙂

I know you can use Mac also, but I'm not concerned with that. The manual specifically states "Windows 10". Not "Windows", just 10. I got 10 when the updates were forced down users throats, and hated it so much that I reinstalled 7.

@Freak3150 it looks like we need to buy this Wireless Sync Dongle
"Keep this little device plugged into the USB port on your computer, so you can wirelessly sync your Fitbit tracker and see how every step adds up."
Syncing requires Bluetooth LE and Internet connection. Windows 10 computers that do not have Bluetooth LE will need a wireless sync dongle in order to sync.
- Via Ionic Product Page
"Computers running Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 operating systems require a dongle in order to sync to your computer.
All other computers or tablets running Windows 10 or Mac 10.6 + must contain built-in Bluetooth 4.0 LE chips to sync without a dongle. If your computer hardware does not have Bluetooth 4.0 LE chips, you will still need a dongle to sync to computers running these operating systems."

Isn't that dongle for bluetooth syncing the basic tracker info? Like if you want to sync to a computer rather than a phone? The music gets transfered via wifi rather than bluetooth, so I'm not sure this would work. If I does great, I'll order that thing today, so I'm ready when my watch comes in.
Can anyone confirm this is what's needed?

@Freak3150 I just read the manual and youre right, it does require Windows 10 and Wi-Fi.
"Personal music and podcasts
With the Music app on Ionic, you can store and play several hours worth of
your favorite songs and podcasts right on your wrist. To download playlists to your watch, you need a Windows 10 PC or a Mac connected to Wi-Fi. Keep in mind you can only transfer files that you own or don’t require a license"

Wifi is ised for pandora updates, not to load music onto ihe Ionic.
Since there are many today that don't even have a computer or laptop, I hope tyey add some additional way to load music.

@Rich_Laue I spoke to Customer Support about this and they said only Windows 10 and Mac can download music to your Ionic using wifi. I also saved the chat for reference.

@Rich_Laue If the manual is accurate, then yes both WiFi and a Mac/Win10 computer running the Fitbit app will be required to download music to Ionic. And it only downloads a playlist created in iTunes or Windows Media Player.

I don't understand the need for having a smartwatch (or smartphone) playing music/audio. I use SanDisk® Clip for that. So this feature in Ionic is like a reason for not upgrading.
