Is phone needed for voice cues on ionic?

Someone purchased an Ionic for me but I am waiting to open it until I get more info. I have read that you can get coice cues for runs but is it necessary that your phone is present to do this?

What can you do without the phone?

Also, it seems that every sync can be viewed by fitbit techs. Does this mean that all data is visible? I realize that only certain info is logged but I want the watch to track my health. I’m not so sure that I want all my data out there for marketing or other purposes.

A warm welcome to the Community @Gottamove. Yes, you will need your phone to have voice cues enabled. This is because you'll track the exercise using Ionic and your phone to track your GPS route

You also have the option to turn on cues in your Ionic but your Ionic will just vibrate to alert you about the cue you've set. You can learn more about it by checking How do I use exercise apps and modes on my Fitbit device?. You just need your phone for additional things, but this doesn't mean you can't use your Ionic without having your phone.

Regarding your inquiry about the information that syncs to Fitbit, you can read more about it by checking this article Is my Fitbit data secure?

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have additional questions. Robot Happy

This isnt correct, you would use the internal GPS and the music which is loaded onto your ionic.

It is just the inability from Fitbit side to develop a voice cue! Poor performance! Dont open it, rather return it, thats what I should have done...

If you have to use your phone for voice cues, then DON'T indicate that you can go from the Exercise screen on your mobile device to the Track screen that says "Use voice cues." The advantage of the Ionic is supposed to be that you don't need your phone!

I use intervals but the buzzing on my wrist is not nearly as strong as it needs to be. It's easy to miss.

I completely disagree: vibration cues are very evident for me and do their work perfectly.
