Issue with removing strap from Fitbit Ionic

hi

I bought new straps for the Fitbit iconic but I am having issues removing the current straps to put the new ones on.

One side of the strap is removed very easily. The other side is impossible to remove. It does not appear to be spring loaded when you press it down so it stays down. The other side is spring loaded. When you try to press the release catch it is different from the other side and already pressed down. 

Has anyone got any solutions to remove the strap not coming off?
