Just want my FitBit to light up when i receive a text...

My girlfriend got me this FitBit ionic for my birthday, its cool with new features but honestly i miss my Pebble and the simplicity and actual increased usefulness of the Pebble.

My main problem is that the Ionic will not light up and display texts automatically... this is a big reason i even wear the watch.  I get a vibration but if im running or if im at my computer its hard to flick my wrist correctly to display the text. Its VERY annoying. I realize its probably done to get that reported 4-day battery life but CMON give me the option to enable display texts/notifications automatically!!!

A warm welcome to the Community @chezouff! Thanks for the details you've mentioned and your feedback about the display and getting notifications. Fitbit is always working to improve its watches and features that are implemented, this is why we have our Feature Suggestion board, where our engineers and developers check the suggestions and implement them.

At the moment, the easiest way is to turn on quick view so as soon as you get it, you move your wrist and this should show you the notification.

Hope this helps!

im posting in the suggestion board now... i am just dumbfounded this isn't at least an option on the app or within the watch.  This watch is cool and offers a lot more features then my pebble time, but the time was sooooo much more functional for my uses. I wish FitBit kept some of that.

Thank you so much for the posting your idea @chezouff! I've found that it was already merged into the main one Make Ionic and Versa screen stay on longer to read notifications, as you can see it's been reviewed by moderator and it will change based on Fitbit's plans.

Hope you can continue using your Ionic! Robot Happy
