I update by 2onth old Ionic last night and since then the following error message appears all the time. K-pay detected a problem with the internet connection to your phone. I have done a factory reset but it is still happening. Can anyone help or am I going to have to return my watch?

It sounds like the watch face you’re using isn’t a free one or Fitbit one. The developer needs a payment for the face you’re using. Try switching to a different watchface or pay the developer, and see if the message goes away.

Mjonesy, do a Restart. If that doesn't work, post back.
EDIT: Apparently, you've already tried that. Try it again anyway and if that doesn't work, press the upper right button to bring up Today data and then press the left button till the clock screen returns. That final step worked for me this morning.
If you post back tell us which clock face you have.
