Latest Update was a disaster for my Fitbit Ionic

Last evening I noticed a message regarding a firmware update being available for my Ionic. I chose to update and the installation seemed to be going on for hours and through the night. This morning I could do nothing with the application on my phone and the Fitbit emblem is stuck on the clock face. I have tried all of the suggestions mentioned in the Forums to no avail. My son gave the Ionic to me for Mother's Day and it has been enjoyable up to now. I wish I never chose the update. It was clearly problematic, Now I don't have my Fitbit. It's worthless.

I have been troubleshooting an issue regarding the notification issue. I'm going to make an education guess on what is happening with yours, because I had a simiilar issue. Your Fitbit is probably not linking to the app. If it's not paired properly the update won't download correctly. Mine took 10 hours to complete because my Ionic wasn't pairing with the app. I had to keep restarting my Ionic, restarting the app, unpair and pair before the complete update loaded. Very very frustrating. I don't understand why Fitbit pushed through this update before fixing what they "broke" on the previous update, 2 updates ago.

I appreciate your reply. I think it will be nothing short of a miracle if my watch operates again. It is totally irresponsible and bad business to push through a update that is so fraught with irreversible consequences. I am angry about this. These watches are expensive. I intend on making much noise about it. Thanks for your interest.

Normally when an update pauses. I kill the Fitbit app. On android this must be done through the phones settings.
