Low calories and heart rate for swimming

I just started swimming with my brand new Ionic
I'm wondering how it logs very low calorie count (183 Cals for a 1 KM swim in 29 minutes - Avg. HR 78) while it shows normal figures during other activities like cycling (626 Cals for a 25 km ride in 1 hour - Avg. HR 142)

What I noticed is that for swimming sessions it shows (in the App) a very low average HR (78) which is way below even my fat burn range!

Can you please advise

@Walmoo Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting this. It's great to hear you are using Ionic for your swimming activities.

I have seen some swimming activities giving a low count of calories burned. This is related with a bug situation that is currently being worked on to get resolved.

How are you tracking swimming? There are currently 3 different ways in which you can do so:

I just want to know if the activity is giving low calories counts with the 3 options?

Please try that out and let me know the results. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

So far I have only used the Exercise app to log my swims, I just tried manually logging and it showed 275 Cals for the same distance (higher than the Exercise app)

I will test the SamrtTrack method during my next swim session.

One more thing, is it possible to show in log summary my time per length or time per 100m for example? it shows Cals per length which is honestly not that useful.

@Walmoo Thanks for your reply and for trying the different ways to track exercises. I believe this low calorie situation happens only with the Exercise App. This is being investigated; I will share updates when available.

Regarding your question about showing time per length in the log summary; please try the following:

  • Go to the Exercise App on Ionic and swipe the screen until you find "Swimming".
  • Tap the gear icon located at the top left corner of the screen to access its settings.
  • Tap "Show Laps" and select "Automatically".
  • You will see the option below "Automatic Lap Settings" not grayed out anymore, tap it to access.
  • On "Lap Type" select "Minutes".

That could show what you are looking for. If not, please try the following:

  • Go to the Exercise App on Ionic and swipe the screen until you find "Swimming".
  • Tap the gear icon located at the top left corner of the screen to access its settings.
  • Swipe down and tap "Customize Stats".
  • Select either on top/middle/bottom stats the option "Lap Times".

This could also help you on showing what you are looking for.

Please try both options to check which one works better for you. Note that this can only be done with the Exercise App on Ionic.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy
