Make Ionic music controls more intuitive

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The music controls on the ionic are clunky and do not open what you would expect. When I click the music app it should take me to the play/pause/options app, but instead it opens the screen to "shuffle all" or transfer music. It doesn't even give me the option to swipe to the other screen with the play/pause controls which is weird.

When I long press the left button I want to see music controls first, but instead it shows me the options menu and I have to swipe right to a screen that just tells me to open an app to play music ...why doesn't this open the music app to the play/pause screen? This long press option is not useful at all.

Overall, the music experience is lacking and needs updating to be more intuitive and require less button presses and swipes to get to it.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @IronClaw! Which app are you using to listing to your music?

To control music and podcasts on your watch or change the audio output device:

  1. Press and hold the back button and swipe right to the Music Controls screen.
  2. Play or pause the track or tap the arrow icons to skip to the next track or previous track. Press the + and - icons to control the volume.
  3. To open additional controls, tap the 3 dots (...) in the bottom left corner. Here, you can change the Bluetooth audio output device.
  4. Press the back button to return to the track listing or an app.

Control music and audio playing on your phone:

  1. If you have an Android or Windows 10 phone, first turn on Bluetooth Classic to control music on your phone:
    1. Open the Settings app on your watch > Bluetooth > Pair
    2. On your phone, navigate to the Bluetooth settings where paired devices are listed. Your phone will scan for available devices.
    3. When you see "Classic” next to your Fitbit device, tap it.
  2. From any screen, press and hold the back button and swipe right to the Music Controls screen. You may see the current track playing or the most recently played track.
  3. To open additional controls, tap the 3 dots (...) in the bottom left corner.
  4. Tap the phone icon to change the audio source to your phone. Then use your watch to control the song or audio playing on your phone.

Keep in mind you can only transfer files that you own or don’t require a license.

For information on how to use the Deezer app to download playlists to your watch, see How do I listen to Deezer playlists on my Fitbit watch?

If you live in the United States, you can also use the Pandora app to download stations to your watch. For more information, see How do I listen to Pandora stations on my Fitbit watch?

Hope this helps!

@MarreFitbitthank you for the detailed response, but my watch does not appear to operate as you are suggesting it should. I am using music loaded on the watch. I do not get the music controls when I swipe. I only get a screen that says “Music Controls” “start playing from a music app”. I don’t get the play button or track skipping buttons.

I can only play onboard music by swiping to the music app. Then, I still don’t get the screen to play music. My only option is to “shuffle all” or “transfer music”

I feel like it should take me directly to the play/pause and skip/reverse options.
