Is it possible to modify what each side button does? I guess the single button on the left side shouldn't be, but the 2 on the right seem appropriate for user configuration.
Currently the upper right launches music. I typically don't have music downloaded to my Ionic, at least not yet, since I use Google Play Music for my music needs. (side note, a Play Music app would be awesome).
I'd prefer to directly launch tracking a run/ride/exercise with the upper right button and generally making these buttons configurable.

Yup, there is a way to do this.
The top right button will launch whatever app is in the top left corner of your apps screen's first page. Similarly, the bottom right button will launch whatever app is in the bottom left corner of the first page of the apps screen.

I disagree with this. That's not what happens when I apply the resolution to my Ionic and it's icons...?
Best AnswerHow does yours work, Mary? The way thinksinCode describes above is EXACTLY the way it is designed and is how mine works.
Bottom right button won't open anything no matter what I put in the bottom left position
No. The only programmable buttons are those on the right. Please mark this as Solved for you, if in fact it was.

@Heyvernsky A warm welcome to the Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.
You may be able to remove dust or dirt by gently using a toothpick around the button. If this does not improve the button performance, you can try to clear debris using canned air. Hold the tracker at arm's length and spray once to loosen any dirt or dust that may have accumulated around the button.
Let me know how the troubleshooting goes. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
