Although there is a help page stating that multiple Fitbit trackers can be used on the Fitbit app ... the Ionic will not reliably sync with the app unless it is the only device linked to the app.
Fitbit claim to be working to resolve this issue but, until then, users should bear this problem in mind if they, as I wished to, intend to use other Fitbit trackers as well.
The help page hasn't been amended since November 2017 - maybe because Fitbit would prefer to keep this problem under wraps for commercial reasons.

@Meldrewman What phone/OS are you using? Your problem might be specific to just one version of the app.
I say this because I have multiple trackers including Ionic with iOS. I have never had a problem going from one tracker to another.
More info might help the engineers.

Hi,
I'm using an iPhone 7+ on the latest version of the app.
The problem only began with me a few weeks ago - I was happily using Ionic/Blaze/Charge until then. Fitbit tell me it doesn't affect everyone and can appear without warning.
I have had a long an fractious exchange of emails with Fitbit - often being told to repeat tha same troubleshooting procedure!
Have a look here - my other thread on the subject ...

Thanks for sharing. I have the same issue with my Ionic and Surge using the Android app. I'm pleased that your persistence has Fitbit investigating this as a real problem. It's been very frustrating and I ended up deleting my Surge from my account for now.

Hi,
It took a while for them to concede there's a problem - afraid it'd affect their sales?!
Frustratingly, I was asked to go through the same troubleshooting sequence a number of times first!

I have reluctantly returned my Ionic to store for a refund.
I have emailed Fitbit asking them how I'll know when the syncing problem is resolved - because, presumably, it's not something which will be widely publcided.
I'll post their response here.

Removing my Blaze was the only way to get the Ionic to sync. Now everything is working properly. For anyone else having the issue, I'm syncing using a LG V30 and running firmware 27.32.4.19 on the Ionic.
