@badass76ta It's nice to see you on the Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.
Since you mentioned that you've just received your Ionic, this might be the reason why you haven't received the latest firmware update. Please confirm you have these requirements:
- Make sure your Ionic is always syncing to your phone
- Latest app version
- A good internet connection
This will ensure that you receive the update soon, please keep an eye on your Fitbit app. You can check the latest firmware version in this article.
I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Turns out my phone is the problem. I have a new phone with the latest Android system and the app works fine now

I assume you have read the recent threads including the closed thread about the latest firmware? If you update, understand you are completely on your own if out of warranty. You have been warned! If you device is manufactured with recent hardware (citation needed) you *may* have a better chance of a positive update result. We have no way of checking hardware revision(s) unfortunately - No alpha/numeric production code on the reverse of the device.
Many of us with still working devices - yes, there are still a few of us are desperately hoping the next FW update is totally re-written. But if it is, I'd like to wait for a couple of versions before updating.

I'd say skip this version unless we're told it's been updated and fixed.
