My Ionic is no longer recognized by bluetooth on my S8. Clock doesn't keep time either.

My Ionic basically stopped communicating completely yesterday.  My S8 no longer recognizes it through bluetooth and on top of that the clock is no where close to correct.  Before it stopped completely, I noticed that it would lose up to 5 minutes or so between synch episodes (have all day synch on).  That makes the device worthless as a clock.  I was able to get the device to synch once yesterday around 10 p.m. central time.  Don't know what ultimately got it to synch one time yesterday, but I have turned blue tooth off and on, force stopped fitbit, uninstalled fitbit, reinstalled fitbit (multiple times), rebooted my phone multiple times, reset ionic multiple times.  Tried everything I've seen on these posts and nothing works.  Even without the device not synching, why is the clock losing time?  Now its nearly 2 hours off of the actual time and losing several minutes every hour (Ionic battery level is currently 70%).  Bluetooth on the S8 works with every other device I have so I don't think its a phone issue.  I've struggled with synching the ionic and the phone off and on since I got the device last November.  I'm tired of the battle and about to give up. Accelerometers seem to still be working, at least I'm guessing the number of steps is correct and the heartbeat appears to be tracking, but I won't wear a device that tells me the wrong time and won't communicate with my phone.  Do I have a lemon or are all ionics this messed up?

From the sounds of it you have tried lots of different troubleshooting steps. Have you tried removing the Ionic from your account in the fitbit app, and also unpairing it in your phones Bluetooth settings? You will need to go back into the fitbit app after and then account and then set up new device. It's worth giving a go if you haven't already done so.

If this doesn't work, your only other options would appear to be a full factory reset (remove the device from your account and unpair it from your phone's Bluetooth settings beforehand) or reaching out to customer support.

Hope you get things resolved.

Will try that next.  The phone, though, no longer even sees the Ionic.  Don't have any idea how I would unpair something that isn't there.

Have removed the device as suggested, but I can't reinstall it as a new device because bluetooth doesn't find the ionic.

Tried the full factory reset twice now and the device never wakes up.  Just keeps flashing the fitbit icon on about 10 seconds off 2 seconds, repeat.

At least the time is not totally wrong now!!! (since it never displays)

Try a two button restart first, if that doesnt work then place the Ionic into its powered up charger.

The bluetooth does not need to find the tracker, and the tracker can not be paired this way @bradleyk Pairing must be done by the app after the app finds the tracker.

If you sync through more than one device,, and they are within 50 feet. turn there Bluetooth off, in reality it could be as far as 150 feet with BT 5.0.

Things to try on android

- Remove the tracker from the phones Bluetooth as @N8teGee suggests.

- Restart the tracker by holding in the left and lower right buttons .

- try a shutdown of the ionic.

- Swipe unneeded apps out of the i ones memory.

- Clear the Fitbits App Cache. do a search the steps depend on the OS version

- Turn Bluetooth off - restart the phone. - turn the Bluetooth on

Last ditch things that have worked for me

- kill the Fitbit app through the phone settings. swiping it out of memory will not stop the app .

-Clear the apps data. this will require you to log in. At this time your settings will be reloaded from the web

I am having the EXACT same issues... I've had my ionic since December and have had ZERO issues and now the time is off and it won't sync... I've tried EVERYTHING identified on this site and nothing. It's very frustrating especially after what we payp for the watch.

First thing, let's make sure the Ionic is not connected to the phones Bluetooth @clw9185. It doesn't have to be connect to sync, and trying to connect would keep the app from finding the Ionic.

The Ionic is not supposed to be recognized by the phones Bluetooth, the app is what does the searching for the Ionic .

Saying that you have tried everything tells me nothing about what has been tried, and the status of the Ionic.

Things that are frequently mentionsbut should never done.

- Factory Reset

- Removing the Ionic from the Fitbit app, this only tells Fitbit that is m not going to use the Ionic, and will add problems.

- Trying to pair the Ionic to the phone yourself, the Ionic should reject it every time .

What is the status of the Ionc, is it still connected to your Fitbit account?

Was a factory reset done, this removed the Ionic but Fitbit doesn't know that it has been removed. The Ionic needs to be setup as if it was first purchased .

My post above sums up the many steps that should be tried.

Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Try these troubleshooting steps if your device is not syncing

I had to go through TWO factory resets yesterday. I've tried everything people have suggested on this site, and nothing ever fixes the problem for more than a couple of days. I'd suggest getting another tracker from another company.

Doing a factory reset would be the very last step to try, I can easily think of 19 steps to try first.

Update:  After trying everything I found online, I finally contacted customer support.  They were very helpful and within a very short time determined that they would replace my ionic.  Have had the new one now for a couple of months and it works beautifully...all the time.  Thanks Fitbit!!

Thanks for your thoughts.  I thoroughly researched all that is online for troubleshooting before I even posted the issue.  I'm not going to rehash all the steps I went through to troubleshoot now, but suffice it to say that I always try the least traumatic changes before I proceed to the more desperate approaches.  I ultimately contacted customer support and they quickly replaced my ionic.  The new one works better than the old one ever did.
