Check the very center of the contact if there's a tiny black hole right in the middle of the gold contact it will no longer be able to charge. Unless you do what I did and soldier a thiny spot in the middle.

Mine has not been charged in quite some time (months).  I'm putting it on the charger, 3 hours, and nothing and following the procedure outlined.  Is my fit bit gone?

Mine stopped charging too.  Tried everything on this thread.  Nothing.  Screen totally black the 0% doesn't even come up.  It did originally and after two hours still showed 0%.  Now doesn't even show that.  Third Fitbit I've had that crapped out.  Sick of it.  Switching to an Apple Watch.  More features, more reliable, and Apple customer service is so much better.

Done with Fitbit!

Coralops, Is there a tiny black dot right in the middle of your gold
contacts on the watch? If so would you be willing to send it to me? I was
able to soldier my Ionic and get it to charge (granted the charging cable
no longer sits flush on the surface but it charges). You pay for shipping
both ways and I'll try and fix it for you or if you just want to get rid of
it, I'll pay for shipping. Let me know.

My ionic is 18 months old and completely died.  No lights.  No charge. Worthless.  Call support and tried all the standard tricks to try and get something to happen to no avail.  In the end customer service offered me a 25% discount on a new watch.  To me this is very bad.  A watch that has no other issue other than will not charge after 18 months is unacceptable.  I have bought my last fitbit.  Good luck to all you that have not had this happen

I went out and got the Apple Watch. After two days of trying to get the Fitbit to charge I gave up. I like the apple a lot better.

Ironically about a week after I got the apple I was getting ready to pitch the Fitbit in the trash and I figured I’d give it one more shot. Plugged it in and it started charging without a delay and has been fine since. I still like the apple better. I use the Fitbit as an alarm to wake me up while the apple is charging overnight.

Won’t get another Fitbit.

I went through all the garbage with Fitbit about them not helping me when
my Ionic died. Luckily, I had purchased insurance and, once they
determined the Ionic was not refixable, the insurance company sent me
another one.

The same has now happened to this one and I am ready to forget about Fitbit
and get the Apple Watch 5. I am so disappointed in Fitbit and feel like I
have thrown $300+ to the wind.

I had a Fitbit die on me @2 months ago, after about 18 months of wear. I debated whether to switch to Apple, but I ultimately decided against it. I am regretting my decision. I have to reset the **ahem** thing every morning to get it to sync with my iPad. Seems like a simple thing, but it’s truly a pain in the butt. I may just swallow the loss and switch to Apple anyway.

My brother has an Apple Watch and loves it. I hate to fork out more money
for another watch, but it will be worth it to have a reliable one.

I just bought an Apple watch as well. Fitbit sent me a customer survey and I told them like it is. They do not stand behind their product sufficiently and appear to be making bad quality products

The issue with the not charging is that it doesn't even register.  Saying plug it in and leave it for a few hours is pointless.  I plugged mine in, and the 0% screen didn't even come up.  tried cleaning the contacts, switching the cable, plugging it into to different sockets, wiggling the cable, nothing.  Left it plugged in for about 3 days.  Still nothing.  Fitbit is crap.  Customer Service sucks.   Went out and got the Apple Watch.  Charges flawlessly (and a lot faster), syncs with the phone much more easily-especially when shifting to a different time zone.  Clearly the issues being discussed on this page about the charging are more than just not plugging it in.   I don't think anyone expected the device to charge when it was plugged in.
