My Ionic restarted during workout

Like the topic says. Today, my Ionic restarted being 15 minutes into the workout. Just saying to remind Fitbit, that the issue is still there. However, today the behaviour was kinda unique. I wouldn't know it has restarted if not the broken display of my watch which leaves the ghost of the previous screen, so still, I could see the ghost of Fitbit logo ( the one that appears during the restart ) on the watch face. Interesting thing is that my workout has been registered ( 15 minutes ) and appeared in the log afterwards. That's the major difference from the usual Exercise crash. I restarted tracking and ended up with two "Workout" activities. I've been tracking "Workout". No unusual settings, no cues, nothing. Just default "Workout".

Hi @SunsetRunner, it's great to have you here on the Forums. Thanks for sharing all the details on your post and for the steps that you've tried until now.

You're mentioning that you've been having similar issues with Ionic on previous days, this is not a normal behavior. Have you manually restarted your Fitbit Ionic? How often this happens to you?

I'd like to give you a hand with this, please keep me posted.

@YojanaFitbit That time Ionic decided to restart itself for me 😉 I restart the device daily as I have always issues with syncing so it's just part of my daily "chores" with Ionic. The device restarted on its own first time ( or I believe so ). Usually, the Exercise app just crashes and goes back to the watch face. The issue happens once in a while and if the workout is lost then it's lost. In this case, the workout stayed despite self-reboot. Not sure how you want to help me with it, especially that some of you ( moderators on the customer support ) claim it's the known issue ( I've been mentioning that several times during a couple of months, long before OS3.0 ). In fact, I already accepted this as a NORMAL behaviour ( same as the restart-app-and-watch-unpair-force-stop-app-restart-app-try-to-sync routine - normal ). For me, it's usually during the "Workout" exercise. No GPS, no cues.

Now it restarted during working out the pizza dough 😛 I restarted it 2-3 hours before myself trying to make the watch sync with my phone. I'm starting to think it restarts more often. It just goes unnoticed.

I agree with the last statement saying that the watch restarts frequently but we don't realise.

I notice the Ionic reboots/crashes about every fifth workout, whether it's a run, a gym session, or even a Fitbit Coach activity. I've also notice it reboot when it's sitting in front of me on my desk at work while charging. This morning it rebooted about two minutes after being put on charge after I woke.

Yep, Ionic crash is frequent and not specifically related to workouts.
