Fitbit have a few troubleshooting ideas for charging issues here:
https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1190/
As it says at the end of that, if they don't work then it's best to contact customer support.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you've been having to charge your Ionic. Could you please confirm if you're still experiencing this? Make sure to give a try to the steps @SteveH mentioned here earlier; they have been useful to many other users.

I had the same problem. I unsuccessfully tried cleaning the contacts with a cloth and alcohol. Then I tried again with alcohol and a tiny inter-dent dental toothbrush. The watch is now charging again.
It's crucial to clean the charger cable in addition to the watch contacts. Dirt becomes compacted into a tiny notch around the contacts on the cable which prevents the cable from engaging properly.
