My experience with Ionic after updating it

Do not update your Ionic with any of the firmware updates that may come out.  In fact, I would say this is true of any FitBit product.

If your Ionic works fine, and you're happy with it overall, then just ignore the firmware update.

Past threads and experience here show that these firmware updates kill the Ionic (or other FitBits) and prevent it from re-starting, powering-up, or functioning normally.  It's not worth it to risk the upgrade.  If FitBit/Google are not willing to replace their broken products (broken as a result of THEIR service update), then don't give them the chance to have to go out and get a brand new replacement costing hundreds of dollars.

Previous firmware update threads are locked, but I wanted new and old users of Ionics (and other FitBits) to be aware that this problem of "bricked" FitBits has been going on for years.

Silvia....the problem of Firmware Updates "bricking" the Ionic and/or other FitBits has been going on for years.  Moderators here gloss over it.

Quite frankly, considering the watches work pretty good, I don't know what is being updated.  I'm happy with my Ionic as-is and have refused to update with the latest firmware since I would be risking a dead Ionic.

If you want to explain why so many Ionics/FitBits have been "bricked" by the Firmware Updates, I am all ears.
